This sketch is legendary in the UK having been consistently voted one of the funniest comedy sketches of all time even though it's now decades old! Yes the 2 Ronnie's was a long running prime time show that ran for over a decade with sketches in each. Ronnie Barker (the larger guy) also wrote and starred in a couple of long running series - porridge and open all hours. Worth adding to your long list!

Ronnie Barker, played the person with the shopping list, and he wrote this sketch and many of their sketches with clever word play, but he submitted them under a pen name for many many years, so they were judged on by funny they were not cos he wrote them. The two Ronnies were huge. the put upon shop keeper was the late Ronnie Corbett and the sketch was such an iconic piece of British comedy, he really did have 4 candles on his coffin.

This is my all time favourite Two Ronnie's sketch. Others are F.U.N.E.X and their innuendo laced songs. I was fortunate to be brought up in the 60's and 70's on the comedy of the era, by all the other greats too, like Morecombe and Wise, Frankie Howard, Steptoe and Son, the Carry On films, Harry Worth, Lesley Crowther, Jasper Carrott, Benny Hill, Fawlty Towers and Monty Python.

Perfect reaction to classic 70's British comedy - you two got it right out the box. I've seen so many Americans sit there with blank faces watching that. The Two Ronnies was "must watch" family entertainment - and I mean ALL the family would sit down to watch the show. The same can be said of Morecambe & Wise. Their sketch with Andre Previn, conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra, is right up there as one of the most loved British comedy sketches of all time. Well, it is for those of us of a certain age, anyway! Great stuff guys. Have fun on your journey. 😊

I love the way the skit sets it up after the "O's", with the quick cut to Ronnie Barker looking at Corbett, as he climbs the ladder and puts the box back. It's that subtle way of involving the audience who think their ahead of he game; and then pulling the rug out from underneath with PEAS. So simply yet beautifully done.

Great to see that this very famous sketch is still causing so much laughter 5 decades on. For some outrageous language misunderstandings, of a Cockney in New York, try Mickey Flanagan's "Can I come in your house?", which is on YT. Congrats on getting all the references. The customer was played by Ronnie Barker and he wrote most of the sketches for their shows. I've seen a few Americans look puzzled at such as simple word-play joke but you guys got it, well done:). BTW, Ronnie Barker (the big guy) used to submit sketches to his team of writers under the pen name 'Gerald Wiley'....joke in the surname!. They loved Gerald's sketches, bought them but wanted to meet him so a meal was arranged. During the meal, Barker announced 'I'm Gerald Wiley' and initially no-one believed him. And in the 1970's a man working as a scene-shifter at the BBC approached Barker and sold him a sketch. He so impressed Barker that he was hired to be on the writing team. He went on to greater things. You've seen his most famous creation - falling through the bar and running through the streets dressed as Batman & Robin. He was John Sullivan, creator of Only Fool & Horses. His writing career began with the Two Ronnies.

What really made this was the care and attention that the BBC gave to building this superb set, that was only going to be used for one sketch lasting 5 or 6 minutes. Where I live, we still have such a hardware shop and it is joy to visit.

Growing up in the US with an English Mom, Irish Dad and my cockney grandfather I totally understand this skit. My grandfather dropped his “h” on every word except the word Honor where the h is silent.

OMG, The Two Ronnies. Absolute legends both. Ronnie Barker is one of the greatest actors too. I remember them as a kid sitting watching them with the family. Such happy days. Always worried the comedy won't travel though but love your reactions. There's a great sketch where Ronnie B has to remember his party's drinks order. There are so many.

Ronnie Barker, the customer in this sketch, was one of Britain's finest comedy writers. There's plenty more material to go yet, guys. Pleased you're enjoying this material.

Oh guys Spencer, Daniel you needed to carry on watching this video.. it was Ronnie Corbett & Ronnie Barker sharing thier favourite sketches and at the end they share the alternate ending idea for that iconic sketch. They are the 2 Ronnie's, the creators. You would've seen the real Ronnie's. Glad you enjoyed this iconic British masterpiece and you actually got it straightaway. Good work guys.

They are national treasures sadly past now. But the shoe was all sketches so a great one to dip into and each one is so different in the characters and accents the use. I know it’s another rabbit hole but perhaps slightly less so insofar as they are all skits. Enjoyed your reaction and the video you watched was good as it was the full sketch, Amanda x

These men were legends and both geniuses. I'm so honoured to have grown up watching them on tv. Barker the taller of the two was the comedic genius. Corbett was the straight man. "Got any Peas?" Is where I lost it😂

Like so many of my generation I grew up watching the Two Ronnie's with my family. No matter how many times I watch this sketch I still laugh my socks off but I must say it was a pure joy to watch along with you guys and to see how much you totally get it! ❤️

The "got any Ps' bit was the funniest for me. The way he gets cheesed off fhaving to go back up to the box of letters again after just getting it before, then finding out he didn't actually want that XD
