How much time do you have, haha! It's honestly hard to choose. Check out "I Put a Spell on You" to hear something no 9-year-old girl should be able to do; it's astonishing. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pN12n9J0tb7ec6c.html. For something off of her '23 EP try "Good in Goodbyes." Hip hop flow meets '90s soul with some great lyrics and Angelina's vocals at their sassy - almost arrogant - best. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sN95fcqmsZe-eGw.html.

How much time do you have, haha! Honestly, it's hard to choose. I'll second the B&W studio performance of "I Put a Spell on You." It's kind of a foundational experience for anyone who is an Angelina fan/Angel: a 9 year old girl successfully channeling Screaming Jay Hawkins and backed by a super tight jazz quintet? Yep. For something more recent, try "Good in Goodbyes," off of her '23 EP. It's a visualizer and so you don't get to see her perform, but it's awesome nonetheless. Hip hop flow meets '90s soul with great lyrics and Angelina's vocals are at their sassy - even arrogant - best. Enjoy.

This was sung directly to a female artist incarcerated in Iran. Angelina's grandma is a renown artist from Iran so this is a very personal statement of support. She is also the only singer asked to perform twice for the Nobel awards show as she so vibrantly represents peace by her peace in action since early childhood. ❤ I think the family of the artist is right there in front of her and she is actually singing right to them , a gifted handed over.

Others have pointed out there is a distinction between the Nobel Ceremony and additional tribute events surrounding the ceremony. Another clarification was Angelina being the 2nd under age 18.

Peter thank you for your wonderful analysis with Angelina and welcome back in her magical world. This song is very sweet and she is absolutely natural and humble in remembering what commitments are mandatory for her, it's such a personal and emotional narrative! A 6 year old girl makes a promise and that same girl after 12 years reiterates and confirms that promise for the future ... She is incredibly tender, human and coherent, it's all truly part of her and her stupendous development, also thanks to respect and the love she receives from her wonderful family.💛🧡❤

The orchestra, the nuances, breath control, playing with her array of ornaments. ..a reaction to this is right up your alley 😉 I appreciate your reaction, you gave credit where credit is due... I'm sure you've heard the popular version sung by the Righteous Bros, Angelina kept alot of the nuances...but in my humble opinion, Angelina's voice and skills defined "RIGHTEOUS".. .THNX for your reaction, enjoyable and fun to SEE how you feel😂😉👍🏻. Thank you for this insightful reaction! Yes she has really grown over the years and is working very hard to do so. With four reactions, you've only scratched the surface of all that she has to offer :-) You could, just for your own pleasure, listen to her two EPs and single she released last year and that will give you more insight. Still this is an 17 year old singing live with a full orchestra on a momentous occasion and she performs so amazingly with all these details and nuances, using liberally her rich vocal toolbox. At 18, she has another 7-10 years of growth to go before her voice fully matures. So exciting to see her grow until not and see her keep growing for the coming years ❤

Absolutely respectful rendition by Angelina of this classic song, I imagine Angelina is so honoured to be performing at the Nobel peace concert in her own Country Norway 🇳🇴 with the Norwegian Kork orchestra, not the first time Angelina has performed at this event, the last time was in 2014 with her rendition of ( What A wonderful world) when Angelina was 8 years old, Angelina has performed with the Norwegian Kork orchestra on several occasions, once at 10 years old with her own arrangement of ( Back To black) and again with her performance of ( Summertime) again at 10 years old, Angelina is so talented, I attended both of Angelina’s concerts in Vegas on the 29th February this year, her stage presence was incredible her live performances phenomenal,true talent when an artist sounds just as amazing live as she does in the studio, great reaction thanks 🙏

Peter, we know how wonderful she is and while we are amazed and mesmerized by her vocal and artistic qualities when we find out 'who she is' and understand the soulfulness we hear in her voice is genuine and it literally transforms into a form of love in it's purest sense and touches our heart, Peter, she just turned 18 on Jan 10th, 2024, and I believe, and I know I'm not alone, she has already reached a level as a performer which is reserved for a very few. On this video, if we were able to mute her voice (omg, what a sin!) and just play your comments, someone who didn't know who she was and listened to you with your remarks would wonder, "Who in the world is he talking about? Is she from this planet?" No one like her and I don't believe there ever was. We are so fortunate she is here singing 'for us' and because of 'who she is' as a beautiful human being she has inspired us to be kinder, more caring and loving than ever before in our lives. Peter, when she was 6 years old she gave her shoes away to a unfortunate young girl about her age because she didn't own a pair of shoes (she had a book published when she was 9 years old describing the entire story) and, soon after decided she would no longer wear shoes when she performed in public because she never wants to forget that little girl also knowing people who understand why she is barefoot, it might inspire them to do whatever they can to help those less fortunate, particularly children. At that very early age she realized there are people in the world who are in need of the most basic properties to enjoy life and her desire since she was a very young girl is that we should all begin to love one another because that is the first step for us to make the world a better place to live for everyone. This is not a fairy tale. It's very real. only Angelina... PS this performance was spectacular and very emotional for her and when you discover what the event was all about (you'll receive full stories from some of her 'angels') you'll be more in awe of her then before.

Angelina Jordan is the finest female vocalist to ever live. There has never been another with her combination of talents. Our barefoot Princess of a thousand voices, the Queen of Jazz. She is a gift to us all. I am adding a comment from the channel Arab Man Reacts, (Boudy) that Andy Schnell penned. It states very accurately what this occasion represented. This was broadcast on worldwide TV in December 2023. Narges Mohammadi had not seen her twin 18-year-old children nor her husband for nine years. She is sentenced to 31 years of imprisonment and 151 lashes. @andyschnell58 3 months ago (edited) Boudy, thanks for your wonderful reaction to this beautiful, touching, respectful performance by Angelina Jordan. Boudy, I greatly respect your commentary about the choices Angelina made for this performance. As always, it is about the song and the occasion, for Angelina. I thought "Unchained Melody" was an odd choice for this event, but have since learned the history of the song. More on that later. Certainly Angelina was thrilled to be performing back in her home country of Norway, where she is a national treasure, but this performance goes way beyond that honor. She first performed at the Save the Children event at the 2014 Peace Prize event, when she was 8 years old. Narges Mohammadi was this year's recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Narges, is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two children spoke on her behalf at this event. Most of the performers were Iranian. We know Angelina's grandmother, Mery Zamani, grew up in Iran and was a prodigy for painting and poetry. We can imagine the conversations Mery had with Angelina about Narges. This performance had to be extremely meaningful to Angelina and her family. I hope all the angels will spread the story of Narges and her mission, with the hope for change. In 1954, Alex North was contracted to compose the score for the prison film Unchained (released in 1955). North had a melody he had written in the 1930s and composed and recorded the score when he was asked to write a song based upon the movie's theme. North asked Hy Zaret to write the lyrics. After first refusing, Zaret and North together wrote "Unchained Melody." Zaret refused the producer's request to include the word "unchained" in his lyrics. The song eventually became known as the "Unchained Melody" even though the song does not actually include the word "unchained". Instead, Zaret chose to focus on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time". The film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or completing his sentence and returning to his wife and family. So indeed this song fits along with Narges being in prison and her two children, and the rest of the people who embrace freedom, calling for her release.

This really is an exceptionally good AND useful reaction video. We “amateurs” also hear what amazing things there are to discover in this vocal performance - but you can name it, using the correct technical terms. This is very valuable when it comes to showing others - whether reactors or commentators - why this is so special (because some people simply have no idea what they are talking about). You haven't seen much of Angelina so far - her TV start when she was 7yo, a fairly recent original (16yo) and the famous Bohemian Rhapsody on AGT (13yo) - that's almost nothing for such a versatile singer and that can easily be misleading. For example, the riffs and runs in her two AGT songs are very directly and intentionally addressed to the US audience (that was a "competition"!) because it is known that things like that are well received there. Angelina usually does something like this in a much more measured and well-placed way. There are actually a few songs where your expertise would be very welcome: "Suspicious Minds" (16yo) and "Easy on Me" (15yo) from "older" Angelina, from the "younger" stuff "Feeling Good" (10yo, on "The Stream gir tilbake" version) , "It's a man's world" (12yo) and "I'm a fool to want you" (11yo, in the booth, with the military orchestra kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ia2oY8ebvbq8gZ8.html ). But above all else, your analysis of "I put a spell on you" would be extremely interesting, because there are also a lot of singing techniques to be explained kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pN12n9J0tb7ec6c.html - even though she was only 9 at the time.

A very enjoyable and educational reaction and analysis. What is the percentage of today’s “stars” that can even come close to Angelina’s vocal abilities of soul, emotion, details, nuances etc. I think once she is really introduced to the world she could become a megastar. She is doing her own contemporary music now which should appeal to a younger audience and help expand her following. They most likely wouldn’t appreciate or under her enormous talent at the moment but would probably learn to appreciate what she can do as they get older.

What’s so special about Angelina is that she gives us stunning performances like this one in five or six different genres. Jazz, blues, pop, ballads, 1960’s soul, r&b, etc.-all done with respect and authenticity for the genre. She exudes class. I agree with other commenters here that you need to see Angelina, at 9, giving us astonishing old school blues with her cover of I Put a Spell on You. It’s her own arrangement, and it’s live in the studio with a great blues band behind her. It’s the most entertaining music video I’ve ever seen. Peter, thanks for such a wonderful analysis of this performance from Angelina! You pointed out some things that truly define and sets Angelina apart from other singers. Mainly that she's a really nuanced singer. This is one of the things that makes her performances so enticing and heartfelt, as she navigates between highs and lows, fry, riffs, etc. without ever being showy or over the top. Class and elegance both in her appearance as well as her delivery. Also, she just needs a microphone and one instrument to shine. No paraphernalia, no dancers, nothing... About the choice of song to perform for this particular Nobel Peace Prize, it was perfect! Conveying the sadness, longing, loneliness and despair of the woman it was honouring, Narges Mohammadi who is currently in prison in Iran for her activism on human rights in that country. This song meant a lot to Angelina for many reasons, one of them being that her grandmother is Iranian. You can absolutely feel her sympathy, support and caring in Angelina's performance. Also, Narges' husband and twin children were present at the performance.

Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize Dec. 2024 Unchained Melody (AJ, at the age of 17 performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony December 2023 in Oslo, Norway.)I watched as Angelina Jordan stepped onto the stage, her presence commanding attention. The room hushed, anticipation hanging in the air like a delicate thread. She stood there, a young girl with an old soul, ready to weave magic with her voice. As the first notes of "Unchained Melody" filled the room, time seemed to slow. Angelina's voice wrapped around each word, infusing them with a depth that transcended mere lyrics. It was as though the song had been written for her, and her alone. The audience held its breath as she sang. Her voice soared, reaching heights that touched the heavens. The pain and longing in her eyes mirrored the emotions in the song-the heartache, the yearning. It was more than a performance; it was a revelation. The chorus came, and Angelina's voice swelled, filling every corner of the room. " Oh, my love, my darling I've hungered, hungered for your touch," she sang, and suddenly, we all felt the real meaning of the words. The magic in her performance was like nothing we had ever experienced in our lives. The lyrics came alive and had meaning as they flowed through us. In that moment, Angelina Jordan became a vessel for something greater-an embodiment of love itself. Her voice carried us beyond our own pain and loneliness. We felt connected-to her, to each other, to something intangible yet profound. As she held that final note, time snapped back into place. The applause erupted-a thunderous acknowledgment of what we had just witnessed. But it wasn't just applause; it was gratitude-for allowing us to glimpse love and longing through Angelina's eyes. And so, we stood there, hearts full, tears in our eyes. Angelina Jordan had given us something rare-a reminder that love exists even in our brokenness. And for those few minutes, we believed it with every fiber of our being. ©

Angelina inspires me to do what I can to help make the world a better place, so I am asking all angels and others to spread the story of Narges Mohammadi. Angelina was recorded here in December 2023 at the Nobel Peace prize ceremony in Oslo Norway, performing this beautiful version of Unchained Melody. She paid tribute to Narges, who is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two twin children, who are 17, spoke on her behalf at this event. The more people who are aware and call for change, the more likely the leaders of Iran will set her free. Acts of kindness are inspirational, as Angelina always reminds us. We angels, and all others must honor Angelina, and those who represent our values, by doing all we can to help, and be kind to others. Even the smallest gestures can make a difference. If you have not already done so, please provide artist links to the official channels, social media and even links to Spotify and iTunes, as many reactors have done. Most importantly, encourage your viewers to use those links the same way as you do for your own channel. That will help ensure her success and spreading peace and love to the world.

Very instructive analysis, Peter! I learned a lot about this performance and about Angelina's amazing technique from it. Speaking of technique, you really should check out her own arrangement of I Put A Spell On You, recorded at age 9. It's one of the 7 wonders of the 21st century. The video is a documentary filmed in the studio, so you do get to see her sing a lot of the song. Here's a link for your convenience: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pN12n9J0tb7ec6c.html

First of all Peter let me say that I really enjoyed your in-depth analysis. In regard to your observation about Angelina's nuanced performance of this song, and how it showed her growth. I'm here to tell you that her growth even to this point has come long before her 17th birthday. Since you are only four songs into this rabbit hole, you have not been able to actually see her progression along the way. You have probably been made aware that she has around 200 covers and performances which are accessible on KZfaq. Once you are able to actually witness her true progression and how early it has started you will be even way more impressed. You will also be way more entertained by this brilliant talent. I am sending you a list of her transitional performances that show her rapid advancement as a singing artist. You may run through the order at any way you choose, but I hope for the full effect that you proceed in the chronological order. Why did you stop at age 15?
@williambryant2851
@williambryant2851 12 күн бұрын
@@dianedove1000 I stopped at 15 because my intent was to guide him through her development as a child because I think that watching her progress is very important to understanding how she formed her ultimate style. By the time she was 15 she was pretty much the singer she is now. Of course though she's only 18, and I know she still has more development coming, but her foundation has been set. I feel it is hard for people to understand Angelina's gift, and talent if they look at her when she's 8, and then try to jump to her being 18 because it is her journey which tells us so much about her.

Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize 2023 This video is a masterpiece that I have watched more than 100 times coming from Oslo, Norway. Every time I hear the KORK Orchestra begin playing, I feel a surge of emotion because I know what is coming next: the most amazing rendition of Unchained Melody by the incomparable Angelina Jordan. She has a voice of an angel and a talent beyond words. Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize 2023 Some ask why Angelina Jordan would pick Unchained Melody for this event, Narges Mohammadi, the Iranian human rights activist who received the prestigious award remains in Iran. One of the most popular and enduring love songs of all time, Unchained Melody, has a surprising origin. It was composed for a 1955 film called Unchained, which tells the story of a man who is incarcerated for a crime he did not commit. He yearns to be free and reunite with his wife and children, who are waiting for him outside. The song captures his emotions of loneliness, hope and longing, and has been covered by many artists over the years, but none in my lifetime of 76 years have conveyed such emotion as Angelina Jordan did at this performance. ©

Peter, I've been here before (your channel, I mean) and this time it's not so much the piece of music you're reacting to (great as it is, given that it's the angelic Angelina), but rather the intelligence of your comments/analysis I admire and appreciate. I bet that skill/gift is what would make you an excellent vocal teacher. Respect....

Thank you Peter…I’ve been waiting for one of my professional vocalist reactors to analyze this song. This reaction definitely fit the bill. I came away with a little more knowledge and deepens an ever greater appreciation for Angelina’s musical and vocal genius. Enjoyed the four pillars of AJ’s vocals. I would add a fifth, tho I’m not sure if it’s technically a vocal thing, element that makes her performances unique is her phrasing..the way she pushes and pulls the time. Anyway, thanks again and hope to hear more from you!

Peter, To me this is the embodiment of Divine Grace in sound. My only analogy would be, to the likes of Maria Callas, The stature, the elegance, the enrapturing beauty. We all are blessed with the privilege of witnessing this history of Ms. Jordan's transformative artistry. ♾ Rb

I've followed Angelina for some years now and she is always amazing. Her covers of Adele give more meaning to the song, for instance, All I Ask. But then, because people said she couldn't belt a song, she did Nothing Breaks Like a Heart. Also her cover of Billie Jean is very interesting. I also loved he live performance of Heal The World. But i'm not sure wht you've done of hers before.If it was the X Factor Bohemian Rhapsody you saw she was only 13 at that stage. I don't like to hear too much riffing, it can be overdone, but this is very pleasant. The original had quite a bit too as I remember. She is, and always has been, truly remarkable.

She was in a video at around 5 years old and said she wanted to sing for the Nobel Peace Prize. Well, she did that at, I think, 8 years old and has now had the opportunity to sing for it again as an adult, fulfilling one of her many goals and dreams. I agree that this was a stunning performance where she was super mindful of the family of the recipient being present and ministering to them. She also arranged this performance, gaining permission from the conductor to do so. You are missing a lot by not viewing more of her work. Thank you for your informative reaction, Peter!
