I love the view from the helm, but can you imagine being in there while your wife is cooking next to you and you're "getting in the way" by doing such a menial task such as piloting a 62' boat. The whole saloon looks like an afterthought. You should be able to entertain all your guests inside and outside on a boat of that size, it would be a pretty miserable place in that saloon during bad weather. And don't even get me started on the state that glass sink is going to be in after one use ;-)

I like this yacht, very interesting interior designing aspects to it and the functionality of exterior design is good for the size of the yacht. I thought the crew design excellent for multifunctional space and particularly thought the sinks under the bunk bed was a clever idea. Overall lovely yacht, not the best in exterior looks, but that's to be understandable based on what the designer's have tried to get on the list of features of the yacht.

Wouldn´t you want to be able to eat inside on an "explorer" yacht, or is it just for "exploring" on warm, sunny days? Also while I do like the idea of the sliding glass doors in the salon creating an indoor / outdoor space, again, it does seem to make the space a bit tight while closed. Especially if you add in a captains chair too.

I’m going to break away from the video at this point so that I can look up a Williams 345 in order to know the max length for a boat to fit in the Tender garage. If only there was a way to get that information on to the video in the first place. I’m back: It’s eleven feet, which is tiny but perfect if Mr. Bean owns the yacht. These tender garages really need to fit a 14’ Tender with outboard motor, or just provide a boat deck and davit.

He was a little too excited for his yacht and went on and on about the systems and design. But to me, this is just a catamaran with stabilizers. It's wide open, like a catamaran or something from Bluegame. I also question it's explorer credentials given the range. Maybe they improved it in thus one, but the other one was 650 NM. That's not a whole lot of exploring. I'd rather take a Bering or Nordhavn or Fleming...

@@cookiemonster2299 OK but that boat is a _passagemaker._ And passagemakers are wonderful in their own right, both as transport and to enjoy as themselves, but they are entirely different architectures and design requirements to this. Suggestions in this forum are including changing the hull to displacement. Changing the engines to small HP shaft. In turn that would require a fundamental redesign of the transom, all windows, etc. And we don't stop there. Extending range and lowering speed means more time inside, including more time forced inside in inclement weather. So literally everything gets changed internally too. The sheer ego of it all. Post after post after post of it. I'd say nobody but not quite, but close to nobody, has bothered to try to judge the boat on it's actual design and intended use. (I just removed several f-bombs from the sentence and somewhat regret it.) I mean if people don't _want_ to use a boat for its intended use, if that style of use doesn't appeal, OK. But they're criticising the fact the boat exists in that niche instead of being an entirely different build that they can't afford either. Let's make the case for this. You & the family live on the Med coast, Florida, etc. are out for a holiday for a couple of weeks. You fill the tanks and you head off. As a holiday you won't want to do too many hours a day passagemaking, certainly not for days on end, you'll be enjoying the places you stop by be it anchorage or berth, along the way. So basically you won't need to refuel during your holiday. Most family holiday yachts top out at 350 miles. If a yacht like that has to refuel once, or twice, you avoided that. That's all. It's not a deal-breaker but it's good. But far more importantly it opens "hops" not previously available, or available with a ballache. For an example to contextualise, can now go from Sardinia to Malta directly without a big detour to Scilly to refuel. Balearics to Scilly DIRECTLY. And if those examples don't interest you it doesn't matter. John on a trip had a ballache of phoning a farmer for diesel because he ran out. Three times the legs is a BIG jump forward looking for a port. If you could tell any experienced Caribbean standard motoyacht captain their "hop" range has gone from 300 miles to 1000 they'd be _very_ happy. And that's the passagemaking of it. The real point of the yacht is, having gotten to wherever it is, you anchor up and get the drinks out. The "but I cannot cross the Atlantic in it therefore I cannot conceive as to why it might exist" crowd... you provoked this. #OverAndOut

Fin stabies require a decent turn of speed. I've never even seen them on a 20+ knot semi displacement boat, but at those speeds, they have to be fairly small to not be dangerous. Hence, they'll be too small to work at truly low speeds. Gyros aren't going to be quite the bees knees, at motion reduction in a boat this tall. The low (for a multi-storey tower) COG will help. But nothing is magic. And Humphreys work at (semi)planing speeds... If you don't care about the above displacement speed, you'll save a LOT of fuel, complexity and cost, by just getting a displacement boat. There's a lot of (arguably over, but the owner is experiencedand knows what he wants....) engineering, and hence tradeoffs, going into letting this thing speed up above displacement speeds. If you want to to make 200 miles in daylight, so you're not stuck out at night, you "need" that. But if you don't care about that "feature", your throwing a lot of money and tradeoffs at something you don't need.
@darthkek1953
@darthkek1953 Жыл бұрын
@@paulnorman8274 just because you've never seen fins on a semi-d doesn't mean they're not in widespread use - they are. As for full displacement, yes and no. Yes it's the most efficient way. BUT you don't have a top turn of speed. So what? So that means you're unable to run from inclement weather. That affects everything in the GA (General Arrangement). You need a boat deck not a beachclub platform for the tender. Doors need different levels of water tightness. A good listen is the guy behind Bering, his interviews with NautiStyles.

One thing that is correctly said is that this is a display boat. Having 3 different types of making the boat more stable is a bit over the top even though a new programmed software was built for it to make all of the 3 to work together "seemingly". Another thing to point out is all the parts you can lift up and down, to make a more easily quick configurations, but it also makes me wonder how durable is it in the length. A floating home it might be, but then it comes with the price to stay still all the time to make sure nothing breaks. Anyway would I recommend this "boat" as a good investment?.....No..and I fairly say so because of my experience as a seaman. It looks nice as showoff near a dock.. but not as a practical boat to use for what it is was meant to be....

Aspects that I loved such as the safety and the bedrooms are brilliant, truly inspirational, however an "Explorer" with only a 600 mile range is not going to explore very far. The fly bridge stairs are an absolute deal breaker. Then potentially 7 berths but only a dinning table for 6 ? The enclosed lounge is not exactly social the TV cabinet means ones guest have to sit beside you not opposite that's not exactly conducive to polite conversation without getting neck-ache . And I actually like a traditional tender Garage door which if sun loungers etc are available acts as a (hopefully) Sunshade.

It has the same problem ALL Euro boats have, no where near enough fuel. That would barely make it from Sydney to Melbourne let alone crossing the ditch to NZ. It's for the Med puddle.

Man, tough audience Hugo lol. 600 miles is plenty of range. It’s a 62’. That’s not going to Greenland. There’s these new things called Marina’s - it would be great to travel to a Med/Baltic (filling up at those marina things) trip

IF you somehow managed to heat the interior of that glass house to something livable in Greenland: Those big, single pane windows would crack from thermal stress....... While all that plumbing for wet bars etc. high up above the only thing frost moderating, which is the ocean;, would freeze and crack..... Pretty much the only places left anymore, which are inhospitable enough to not have coastal populations supporting fuel docks closer spaced than 500 miles, are exactly such butt cold places. Where boats like this, all make a cold, hard, zero sense from the getgo. In most other places, many people would prefer the ability to wick it up to 20 knots on more realistic, occasional shorter passages. Even if that means not having a weight allowance allowing for bunkering fuel like a transoceanic supertanker.

It happens when you do not name thigs right. Maybe ifyou call it a "coastal exploring luxury yacht" it would fit the right crowd preferences. If you are looking to buy an explorer yacht, you would skip this one.

It looks like a trawler without the abilities. You couldn't leave Genoa and decide to go to London, or Toronto, non-stop. It a Med Cruiser like a Princess or a Azimut but dressed differently. I've heard wonderful things on the quality and I like the styling, but I'm ambivalent about it. But then the Swift Trawlers have all the same issues. They're not long distance open ocean boats but I like those too. I could see this in the Caribbean but not the Great Lakes.

Correct, there are different boats for those activities. But Princess & Azimut, aside from costing a lot more, have a lot less range. But yes it's a Med/Caribbean explorer, not a globetrotter.

As long as you're sitting a bit out from the mainlands, and under a roof protecting you from the direct sun, the breeze is really pleasant. All those superyacht charterers aren't paying a million a week to be cooked alive.... I could absolutely see this boat work well in Ibiza/Formentera. Stabilisation and reliable ground tackle, are a big thing with the quickly changing wind directions and few truly protected anchorages which weren't already overcrowded by 1970....

I'll be honest I'm not sure about this boat. The decor in the salon is nice. I can see what the owner wanted but for me it's not quite working. But the quality of the work is good, plus I like the helm and kitchen together makes sense. Is 600 nautical miles a long distance boat I was expecting much more than that. But interesting, I'm hoping you go onto review another one to compare them. See what maybe the manufacturer or another owner would plan.

in the salon you are looking "straight at" a sideboard unit ?????? - there'l' be no room in the galley once the captains chair is installed - i hate toilets and showers in the "same space", you get your feet wet every time you go to the loo - and the 4th cabin is just NOT A CABIN - anyway, if you want to see how to use the space properly in a 60+ft boat look at the Absolute Nevetta 64

Wonderful use of new innovation & designs. Where this yacht lost me: IPS, no real cockpit on the water for users outside of the Med (fishing, diving, seating closer to water level). Then the layout of the galley which is probably changeable, plus too many sharp edges & corners. No easily accessible dayhead. The greatest negatives are that stairway to the flying bridge. Too steep, not safe underway in a big sea, too exposed, & the lower helm is not at all suitable for passage-making. Just my thoughts.

C'mon Hugo, you know you wanted to try and cram 2 people into the shower. Remind you of the SAS days locking out of a sub in full kit ready to swim out and take down a freighter carrying illegal arms from North Korea. You could c,ear this yacht with a Glock 17 or a B&T MP9. MP5 would be too big.
