Hey buddy. Love your setup. And the fish look amazing. I have a question for you. I'm setting up a 220 gallon tank. And I'm trying to put a constant drip system. I'm wondering which filters I should get for the constant drip system. Can it be just a sediment filter or do I have to have the carbon blocks too. Because I see the sediment/sand/rust everywhere but for some reason I can't find the carbon block ones

The standard for what right looks like! I wish mine was cheaper. 300g tank, 100g sump both acrylic, Aquadecor back ground with bottom rocks and side panel. Powder coated metal stand. 3 Kessil A80 lights. All for fresh water Mbuna. I'm easily at 10K. Killer setup you have. One thing, was that noise the K1 smashing against the glass? thanks again bro
@Jetblink619
@Jetblink619 2 жыл бұрын
You know it’s amazing…the noise you hear is a combination of the K1 against the glass and against the bottom of the roller filters. Ironically this loud noise is amplified big time on the camera mic for some reason and it drives me nuts! In person it is very quiet as in you can barely notice it, especially with the doors closed. I know what you mean on the cost, I have 3 Kessil A360X lights on the saltwater tank alone…along with on a couple other tanks. Sadly…or surprisingly…these $50 LED floodlight look just as good!

You went back to the fluid k-1 media? You like that better then the marine pure blocks you had in there?
@Jetblink619
@Jetblink619 2 жыл бұрын
@@adamtittarelli4849 the MarineLure blocks turned into a nightmare, just awful. I bought a total of 8 of them for a couple different tanks and same result with every block. The disintegrated and caused a huge mess. Way more hassle than they were worth for sure. Will not use them again. I will make a video on K1, my experiences with it, the good…the bad.

@@Jetblink619 yep in my noodling, I also learned to steer away from the Marine Pure due to rapid disintegration and turning to mush... did you ever make a detailed video of your fluidized K1 setup? I guess I'll remain on the fence for a minute... I need mostly silence, I won't have filter rollers in that chamber, the sump is acrylic Trigger Systems 39, do you think the K1 would make as much noise rattling off the acrylic chamber as it did the glass? Also, which wave maker were you using to move the fluidized bed? Thx a ton! I may not go this route since you determined it doesn't hold as much BB as the internet claims, still would like to know what you used to circulate that chamber and your thoughts on the acrylic sump noise vs. glass. I intend for the foreseeable future to leave the stand open, I fabricated the stand from square steel tubing and wanna see the attractive hardware as part of the display, I may enclose the stand later with some lightweight magnetic panels but didn't wanna hafta make them acousticly quiet if I can get away with it...

Really enjoyed watching all your vids! I’ve been doing a new set up using yours as a model. What is the model of wave maker you use for your K1 chamber?
@Jetblink619
@Jetblink619 2 жыл бұрын
I ended up doing away with the K1, I found it to not be an adequate filter media along with being very noisy. Holds nowhere near the bacteria as other media such as lava rock etc. The pump I have in that chamber is a Jebao wavemaker.

@@Jetblink619 Dang... I'm in the same boat as John, been setting up a 240 gallon freshwater system for the past year and now in the finalizing stages. Been taking a few queues from your strategies regarding sump configuration. Most recently I've considered fluidizing K1 in the skimmer chamber of the Trigger 39 to move away from ceramics etc. based on a good bit of internet fodder that touts the K1 even in a static bed to house practically double the BB as even the better substrates like biohome and even far more over than things like Fluval Biomax ceramic rings. I'd completely convinced myself to go the fuidiized K1 route so I came back to review this setup because I've been working very hard to make my system run dead silent, I wanted to see if there was any info as to what pump you had moving the K1 and if you'd achieved a silent operation from it. Your reply to John Nelson's comment now has me flippin the script yet again haha! I'd already decided to get away from all the ceramic rings and go with the larger solid blocks as shown in your 210 gallon salt sump around the corner there. Can you speak to which larger porous blocks you like best since you came to the determination the K1 indeed doesn't house enough BB? I guess I do wonder how you came to that conclusion to make the switch away from K1 in a fluidized bed, the last article I went through claimed many many tests of various scenarios to determine how much better the K1 does the job and that ceramic rings pretty much bring up the rear of the field of all the common medias tested. I take your word for it, your systems always look sweet and appear to be thriving... perhaps make a recommendation for which large blocks I may consider? Obviously I'll configure a variety of media throughout the flow path but I'd like to nail down the primary compartment with something like the large blocks to keep things neat as well as more service friendly when cleaning out the sump. Thx for all your efforts to showcase your setups and strategies along the way as you have!

Hey brother, love your tanks you doing awesome job quick question I have my brand new aquarium with overflows. I wanna ask you a question wilth the UV sterilizer. The question is, do you run one pump through the whole system or you have a septic pump for the UV? Thanks buddy.
@Jetblink619
@Jetblink619 6 ай бұрын
Thanks! My UV sterilizers are T’d off from the main return line. After the T there is a ball valve to control the amount of flow I desire. You can run a seperate pump for the UV but why waste more electricity for no reason…in my opinion.

You failed to mention the cost of the most important thing. The fish. My big cichlid tank is the size of your sump. Was the floor in your house reinforced to hold the thousands of pounds worth of tanks?
@Jetblink619

I said in the video I would not be factoring in the cost of the fish since I bred and raised the majority of them from fry. Yes, the floor is reinforced for the weight.

What issue did you have that made you abandon the Clarisea roll filters?
@Jetblink619
@Jetblink619 Жыл бұрын
The first issue was I had to severely cut back on the water flow due to their slower rate. Second issue was they were becoming more of a hassle than they were worth throwing off. Error alarms every day. In the beginning, they were fine and great, but shortly there after running for a couple of months, they became a bit of a nuisance. The paper with jam, or simply become out of whack. All of this being said, this tank is now a discus/community tank, and I have turned the flow way back. I am willing to give them another chance and think they would be better suited for the set up with the lower flow. I will make , some new videos at the end of the week or next week.
