Seeing all those Spider-characters is mildly horrifying. I think this is how people must feel when they see a Starbucks or Subway on every street corner all of a sudden.

That reminds me of Black’s comedy set of all these Starbucks are for people with Alzheimers who forgot they just left a Starbucks. Lol

I see fewer 7-11s lately, although ironically my town has three in walking distance and a fourth on the other end. Maybe my town is weird.

6:58 Wrong, Perch. Most Big Two pro writers and editors say they intentionally make the fictional comic world reflect the real world. So according to the comics they make, the real world must be 75%-95% LGBTQ+. So those comics should be selling like hot cakes, and the movie and TV deals should be coming any time now.

Is a space setting for a high fantasy story a good idea for a franchise? I have a story I wanted to write for a while that mixes in a few elements from rpgs I grew up on and the space traveling aspect of a lot of sci-fi, but it's less Star Wars and more like One Piece in Space.

To me, a franchise is rather simple. Take Iron Man, for example You have his cast of characters, mains, support, and villains that are typically associated and appear in his comics and media. These types of franchises are bundled together for licensing opportunities That's why over the years you would sometimes see subtle changes to characters to help Define where they lay in these franchises.

I’m going to my first comic con on September 8th in Arkansas and I am really excited to go, I’m a boy from central Arkansas and have never been to one of these, me and my mom are going there as a special trip and was wondering if you have any tips as to how to act and proper etiquette at one of these events?

A franchise of movies or shows are stories that spins off to either other shows or other media toys, or a movie that gets a show or vice versa, but a comic franchise is a bet more complicated since there is usually always more issues in a run of comics, so a Comic book franchise would be if a comic run spins off to other runs in the some universe or gets a show, movie or toy, so it's a bit harder, it seems, to get a comic book franchise up an running🤔 I don't think you need a franchise to be so big before it gets to be a franchise. Also Spider-Man isn't just for people who like adventure infact I don't think it's a big factor for Spider-Man fans🤷‍♀️

Arby's is a franchise, a successful franchise that appeals to the widest audience possible. 😏

Perch contradicts himself by saying a franchise has to appeal to the widest possible audience. A lot of successful franchises have thrived by appealing to a smaller, but devoted audience. If they are fortunate, that audience can eventually break out into the mainstream but the important thing is to have a core that follows the franchise for years. Look at superheroes, who for years, were seen as kid stuff, fit only for geeks and nerds. Star Trek also started as a cult hit while Lord of the Rings was only for wide-eyed college kids. It boggles the mind that Perch actually thinks that making a successful franchise is "simple." Franchises need a hook but hardly anyone can say what that "hook" is. Sometimes, even the best creators can't do it right.

A comic book franchise is defined by legal quantity of original product in precisely the same title. With God at 100 legal products it is deemed eternal.

I don’t care about franchises, I don’t care about shared universes and different characters overlapping in different series. I just want a bunch of different unique worlds with completely different stories.

@@AlecArtComics The big 2 badly need to branch out into different genre not attached to their superhero universe, I thought DC might do that when they got success from “Nice House on the Lake”, but then they killed that comic by having it take a few months break halfway through.

Great example! Just looked it up. Movie made 174 million box office to a 14 million dollar budget!
@AlecArtComics
@AlecArtComics 4 күн бұрын
You got it wrong..again! There’s a big hole in your second argument. The idea of going for the “widest audience” by never straying from the norm in order to be highly successful is kinda false. Brokeback Mountain made 174 million dollars on a budget of 15 million… Black people only account for 13% of the country. Asians account for less than 5%. This logic means there should virtually never be stories featuring those groups as leads if a property wants to be highly successful for wide audiences. Yet that’s not the case. Black Panther disproves that. Bruce Lee movies disprove that. Disney movies like Coco(Disney) (Aladdin) or Spiderverse prove this wrong. The actual answer is that in order for a franchise or property to be successful it needs to tap into something called EMPATHY! Yes, the only thing a story needs to be successful is for it to connect with the audience in a personal and UNIVERSAL way. Not everyone is black but most people know what it’s like to lose a parent or be doubted. (Black Panther) Not everyone is Hispanic or celebrates Day of the Dead in Mexico. But everyone knows what it’s like to miss your family when they’re gone. (Coco - Disney) Not everyone is gay, but everyone knows what it’s like to live another human being or chase a dream. (Bohemian Rhapsody) And many more. So yes, you can actually have very successful franchises that are “niche” initially, as long as they connect with outside audiences on a human level… Thats pretty much it…
@belgiumcomics2537
@belgiumcomics2537 4 күн бұрын
Bruce Lee movies star a Asian man but i don't think they where made to appeal to just a Asian audience. Those movies have a lot of fighting scenes so they will appeal to people that like action movies with a lot of fighting. Coco may be about hispanic people but it was never made to only appeal to the hispanic demographic. Same goes for Black Panther. It was made for a audience that likes superhero movies. The fact that it stars a large black cast doesnt mean it was only made to appeal to black people.

@@belgiumcomics2537 Maybe you should read my comment again… all movies have niches that still connect with people on a human level… They’re were times where plenty of these movies would not have been released because they were considered too niche or less mainstream appealing.
