@@OhRisk i started of as a minecraft and hytale channel but my passion for hytale is just very high so I went to full on Hytale BEFORE the delay (on 2022) 😭 I do have full faith on the Hytale team, and after all we will play one day and I will be happy making content about Hytale everyday..

I disagree with most of the points in this video. Hytale isn't just switching engine, they are making their own new engine from the ground up. With how long the engine rewrite is taking, trying to change engine post release would take much longer and mean less or no updates for ages. The original engine was also built on java which can only run on computer devices. The new engine runs better, lets the devs make features faster long term, and is compatiable with multiple platforms. With the combat, the design team is creating new combat because the engine is taking a while, so not updating features such as combat would mean half the team would just have nothing to do. If you're worried about it being too complicated, kweebec corner also said that the playtesters got the hang of the combat and movement very quickly, so I don't think it will be too overwhelming.

So we half agree I wouldn't think that the lack of post release updates is a bad thing because the community can just make mods for the game to basically provide the updates that the teams wouldn't be doing because of the engine rewrite. Still the new engine should have been a post-launch focus, Fortnite and CS2 did the same thing and have been well received (for the most part, not with CS2 though). And a mobile launch would be better too after launch because people would already have a game to play. They can use the actual launch of the game to gather additional funding from the players who bought Hytale or bought cosmetics if the game is free to play (hope it's not though). Having a mobile launch and a console launch at release just eats up more resources and time, but it is true that they are getting ahead of what they have to inevitably do in the future which is release on mobile and consoles.

@@OhRisk Definitely should not be a post launch focus, Fortnite and CS are already established games with an established playerbase making them money and the games work already, the engine switch is moreso an afterthought to get a bigger player base and better performance. Switching to a brand new engine for Hytale immediately post launch would be idiotic at best. Working on the new engine in C++ instead of Java means a far far better performance on all machines and lets them use already established frameworks that have been tested rigorously to gain even more performance, like FLECS, which they talked about in their newest technical blog post. It certainly does not eat up more resources and time considering how early their switch to the new engine has been made. They would have had to wait a few years before making the switch as you say or the game would be a flop, because it would only be a minecraft clone in the eyes of the people with performance just as bad as minecraft. The change to C++ from Java is a huge plus, that you simply don't understand, Java is pretty bad. I was skeptical of the console and mobile releases and thought same as you. But the only difference in that would be the fact that they have to make it compatible controllers and a touch screen. Which is a pretty minimal thing to do, compared to making whole new versions of the game for other machines. C++ is multi platform, far less work required to have it run on other machines, unlike Java. C++ allows them to make a better game, in every way. They tried to make a ECS from ground up, while in C++ they used an established ECS called FLECS. A lot of software engineers loathe java and clown on it on social media for good reasons. They are saving both money and time by this. And they have hired a lot more people to work on the game ^^ a lot of talented people.

^^ What this man said but in simplified terms C++ is a more barebones programming language (it takes more time to allocate system resources etc.) therefor it would perform better at worse devices Java is way slower with less options for system resource allocation but in turn it would be easier to understand, work on, develop on If you still dont understand what im saying Imagine your making pancakes and C++ is your recipe book with flour eggs milk and whatever else you need to make pancakes and when your finished it would taste delicous Now imagine you have a premade mixture and you only put water now thats Java the instructions are easier to understand just put water and aswell as easier to do rather than a whole recipe book the downside being that it wouldnt taste that great

you can't just change programing language of a game just like that. and there are a lot of fundamentals which you can't change once you're past a certain point in development. for example: Minecraft Java can only run on one CPU core, because of how it was built from the start. obviously they would want to fix that and they would probably want to change the programing language too, but it just doesn't work like that. for such major changes to the fundamentals of the project, you can't just port everything. you have to start over (almost, they obviously still have assets, art, sounds, music ect...)

Yeah obviously it takes time and resources, but they could have just released the game on the old engine, actually delivered a game, get more resources and funding from fans buying the game then work on the new engine while having another team working on the current game. Maybe there wouldn't need to be as much work on the current game on release as the community could improve the game and make mods for it which leaves the devs with time to work freely on the new engine. My point in the video was that completely redoing the engine from the ground up mid development just seems like a waste of time and resources. Mobile and console releases shouldn't be a priority at launch, they should be a post-launch change that they should work towards including the engine rework.

@@OhRiskwho in their right mind would do that? It’s better to start over when you’re only half way in rather than finishing something you already know will have to get redone in the future. Which will take several more years and leave the original game dead since no development resources would be allocated to it. Switching engines isn’t as easy as “just doing it”. They know what they’re doing.

disagree, if they dont plan to support it while in early development, itll cause massive headaches to support later on. Just look at minecraft bedrock port. Imagine if minecraft java and bedrock weren't separated

Seeing the trailer when I was 18 and now I’m about to be 24 with the game still not having a release date… it’s so disheartening, I’ll have a busy life by the time this game comes out, I wish they had released the game already or at least next year but realistically they’re probably not even gonna be done until 2027, I’ll be 27 almost 30… god I hate how long they’re taking.

wanna know what all the examples you gave of other games have in common? They are switching from one version of an engine to a new version of the same engine. For example, in the case of unreal engine, you can just press a button to upgrade a project from a version to the next. Valorant is made in Unreal Engine 4, which also has built-in support for exporting to consoles, so no, they didn't have to switch anything for the console ports. CS:GO was made in Source (1), Source 2 has been worked on since 2010, they ported CS to Source 2 in 2023 (13 years after the new VERSION of the engine started development). Hytale isn't switching between VERSIONS of an engine, they are switching between ENGINES. And not just that, CUSTOM ENGINES, with DIFFERENT LANGUAGES. This means that they need to make the engine before they can even port the game to it. In short, the examples of "other games who did the same but quicker" are flawed and not at all comparable. Nobody has released a game to then create a new engine and switch to it, because that's notviable.

Actually most of the assets (blocks, mobs, animations, sounds) are easy to port. But the developers changed ECS system and scripting language (rumoured to be Lua), which completely changes the engine architecture, so it will take longer to port, but they have already ported quite a lot (John said that Hytale on the new engine looks like on the old engine).

Cosplay from the different devices but I’m still going to be getting hytale on PC, because Microsoft,Sony, Nintendo, Google, Apple, and Samsung will put restrictions to the game on their devices. Like not being able to use the creation tool or directors tool.

the engine change with hytale is different than any of the games you mentioned CSGO is Updating the Engine Fortnite is Somewhat similar to CSGO Since theengine of fortnite is UE4 they just need to port their game onto UE5 while hytale, as you've read it from the blogpost yourself is a "Remake" they're making the same engine, but with different language is like you make a 5000 word essay in english but decide to change it to japan manually without translating it from google

If they make the game for Mac, they might as well port it to iOS since macOS and iOS share essentially the same infrastructure. Porting the game to iOS wouldn't take much more effort if they already have a Mac version. The same is true for Windows and Xbox. they're definitely going to make a Windows version so porting the game to Xbox wouldn't take much effort.

It depends which version of iOS. I think you're talking about iPadOS. On Mac, you can download iPadOS apps that are and aren't verified for iPadOS, however you can't download iPhone apps to Mac. So if they make the game, they should port it to Mac first and do a test on iPad afterwards before getting close to iOS.

@@JoeBurner1720 That is one of the reasons, on their most recent blog post they stated: "There were many reasons for making this change: we wanted to ensure we could release the game across multiple platforms; we wanted to improve our performance when targeting lower-spec devices; and we wanted to build a core engine that was robust enough that we’d be able to patch and maintain the game into the future."

If the meta is ability based. I wonder things like aim matter more than stamina management. Like in MC Aim and Movement are key no matter what game mode. Hytale adding stamina makes more variables. which I like personally but I can also see the downside. The weapons having their own abilities I think its styles make fights type of game at higher levels. It might be good to get really good at using 2 or 3 weapons rather than trying to master everything imo

I agree that mobile support at launch is unnecessary, but I don't think it is fair to compare Hytale to already released games. While from the user's side it feels like for example the Fortnite engine change was just an update, in the background it probably took a lot of resources and time. Only it is easier to notice these aspects with an unreleased game because it means that the launch is postponed. On the combat, I trust the team that they can truly create a fun and engaging system - they have mountains of data from what players like from their Minecraft server. These years of experience and the footage already shown (which I think looks great) makes me believe in the team's ability to achieve something great.

2:00 while valorant is not cross platform with console and pc, I dont think they used a whole new engine. They had to port the game, but doesnt mean they built a new engine from the ground up. Thats not how it works. Also csgo 2 was not an update but rather a full new game in the new engine. Also fortnite bas based on unreal engine already which made it easier to port to the new version of unreal. Hytale, is making a unique engine from ground up, and thats the huge difference, they dont have smth like unreal engine or source which already had earlier versions to build upon. Hytale had to be rebuilt, to have better performance and make it easier to add new features in the long run, and also so it supports mobile, consoles and pc crossplay.

CS2 was an update to CS:GO which changed the game engine. They used the same Steam store, same achievements (which got deleted sadly). Everything else is valid

@@JuhoSprite they pushed CS2 as an update on the same branch of CS:GO. literally go on the Counter-Strike website and read that it says "Counter-Strike 2 is a free upgrade to CS:GO" before calling me delusional. Could it be classified as a new game? Sure. But in reality it's actually a massive update to CS:GO.

You have to remember that games which are already out that get engine updates take years to update, not only that fortnites was a fork of unreal (I believe) which is a separate product owned by epic and would be developed independently. Redeveloping an engine in a different language from scratch, especially a voxel engine which is infinitely harder to produce than an FPS engine takes a lot of time.

They messed it up with this game. That first trailer that exploded in hype was released way too soon. Sorry, but 5 years is way too long to wait for a game. I mean, I feel like they're trying to make Skyrim 2 or something. We just need a fun simple game that can compete with Minecraft really.

What I'm afraid is that the game is going to be just another random survival,base building game. But what is promising is that one ex dev from hytale made game called Vintage story and it's a banger of a game, it is hardcore, but its immersive af.

Lmao Hytale back in 2016 is a modding platform, not just a game. In Hytale you will be able to create your own map / server / mod / sound / animation / script. And if you're not a creator, you can play other people's maps / servers.

It really isn't. It's just that the old engine couldn't cope anymore and the developers knew it, but turned a blind eye to it. I'd rather wait for a good game with good optimisation than suffer from technical solutions that appeared in 2015.

Finally someone who says it. For the past years i was thinking that the game is turning more away from the announcement trailer. And i never thought that it was a good thing. Pwople liked what they saw in the first trailer thats why it got 60m views. I'm not saying the new system is bad, but they should have finished the game to be playable at the Standard they showed in the trailer. And than update it with new stuff so the community can give them feedback. Now we getting all these changes cause the devs after 6 years of playing thing that some systems are boring or to easy and new players may just get an overload just by trying to figure out the combat system

I think even if they released it it will not be good like at all if you go back to the old footage you will notice a lot of problems and bugs and unfinished content so this was the best decision hypixel has made for the entire game and we should support them because the game is now really better than what it was

@@Teryte the biggest problem i have that say always say we now will get more transparent and they never rly do. No gameplay for years the only thing we got is a ytber that got shown old engin fotage. Why isn't the public allowed to see that fotage? Does it look that unfinished? And why don't they give us new engin fotage does it not work at all? If so at least tell us that the game by no mean would be ready in the next 2 years

I agree 100% the devs are trying way to hard to be perfectionists people liked what they saw back at the announcement trailer I personally feel like they are trying to hard to do to many things at once I personally want a more simple combat system and it people want it to be more in depth they have already said that a modding tool will be apart of the game I feel like they are trying to beat the modding community to the punch before launch I mean who knows at this point people might not even like the game and it might flop which I can only imagine what that would do to dev moral after working on it for 6 years

You don't get my point. I never said that Hytale mobile will be terrible. All I said was that it isn't a good idea to focus on mobile before the game is even released. Once Hytale is out and people can actually play on it only then it's a good idea to make a mobile port of the game. Making a mobile version of the game is a great idea.

not excited anymore I have time job I'm not just now entering high school. at this point point hytale is in dev hell, and the only reason why it'll release is because Riot has infinite money, a literal money printer that can get away with 500 dollar skins. They'll probably turn hytale into a free to play cosmetic fiesta
