Yes!! I am 58 and finally accept that i AM transgender. But, that does not have to mean I will transition. That is what people don't necessarily understand. I am trying to figure out next steps and know that I desperately want to start HRT. But, even that does not have to mean I will fully transition. Yes, some steps may need to be taken, but each person gets to decide what those steps are. Thank you for your guidance and thoughtful advice.

I fell into this trap in the 2000s. I read about severe cases of gender dysphoria and not being able to relate to them, I saw no place for myself in the trans community, and it took years until I started transitioning in 2018. These were the times of conformity, extreme gatekeeping and cookie-cutter approach - gather heavy evidence, go to a doctor, pass a 2 year torture test (called RLE but I will firmly stress it was just deliberately jeopardizing trans people's lives, given all the transphobic violence), go on HRT, change gender marker in documents, go through bottom surgery at least.

Perfectly explained. I'm 55 and have known I'm transgender for the vast majority of my life. I have lived without completely transitioning all this time and will live however I want as I always have. Just because the forest is on fire doesn't mean you have to put it out.

Yeah, non-binary people are trans, and in the individual transversion whether they’re binary or not doesn’t necessarily have the same transition goals, even assuming they have access to stuff which obviously unfortunately commonly people don’t
