I always liked how Ragnarok is a self fulfilling prophecy; had Odin not known about it he never would’ve done all the things that led to its inevitability. It only happens because of the actions he takes out of fear in order to prevent it.

Literally all the good ones happen because of loki. He is by far the most interesting and amusing person. Even among other mytos, hes top

38:30 You forgot to mention that Tyr willfully gave his hand to Fenrir because he knew that tricking Fenrir was wrong, and Tyr is the god of justice.

7:34 Big fan of Norse mythology but one can not deny there are some great contradictions here. Odin received his mighty spear, Gungnir, at the same time Thor got Mjolnir and Freyr got his ship Skíðblaðnir and boar Gullinbursti. And the initial price for building the great Asgard wall was Freya's hand in marriage. Freyr and Freya did not join Odins court until AFTER the Aesir Vanir war.

Well, the mythological stories were not like a fictional novel. They were folk tales with deep significance. Maybe the two stories are from two different folks. The main thing of a religion was rituals. The stories come after that.
@debarghapaul8669 ай бұрын
The significance is also historical. The asir gods were predominantly Indo European in characteristics. The venirs were maybe pre-indo European gods of the Neolithic farmer folks appropriated by the indo Europeans.

Likely a Christianity influence Northrup biology was heavily redefine as Christianity before Norway becomes Christian basically Thor became a Jesus figure oden basically become a kind God and Loki basically became a Satan figure for some reason and some historians believe Ragnarok was a Christian thing and in many floods in many mythologies like Egypt and Greek was likely at some Christianity stuff

@joshuaemmitt39805 ай бұрын
because this compilation is a mixture of all the Norse mythology videos that he made so far at that time and he didn’t make a video about the myth you’re talking about Yet so don’t complain. He’ll probably make it sometime in the future.
