I find it interesting that there is always a cast member sat in a fenced off area in the theatre keeping an eye on riders.

So maybe its a difference between Florida and California versions, but since this was one of my babies when i worked at DCA, a few notes: The canopy is pneumatically (pressurized air) not hydraulic (pressurized oil) controlled. Scents are done by a beaded filter material with individual tubes going into the squirrel cage fan each seat has in the canopy. The carriage itself has a single park air connection that runs the brakes, canopies, and scent air, and restraint unlock. When we ran IMAX 70mm film our goal was always to get 10,000 cycles before having to replace it. We did this 5 times before we replaced the film projectors with the 4 christie laser powered 4k projectors in use now. Also a fun fact: the DCA version of Soarin over the World was supposed to approach over DCA before turning and flying over Disneyland. This was all shot (with World of Color on the pier and the Red Car around Cathay circle) but was cut due to time as the extra 5 seconds would have dropped capacity.

I am glad that Soarin' Over California is back at EPCOT. Around the World feels more computer generated, while California seems less. The score is also better from Over California, IMO.

These videos are so the opposite of Tick Tok. They make us all smarter while still being really entertaining. I am so glad you were able to post a new one. It's been a long time. (Though I enjoyed the Charlie Brown stage show videos too).

Just went on at Epcot. You woulda swore it was the first showing of over California. At the end everyone cheered and chanted bring it back. I cannot agree more..

I'm from Camarillo so seeing our little town make an appearance out of nowhere in Disneyland (with the best scent of the whole ride -- oranges) was always so exciting, so the California version is far superior according to my biased opinion

I've been to the original California one, but more recently I rode a similar style ride in Pigeon Forge, TN that had a Steampunk Airship theme.

Either California or the World is fine with me. As long as we get Patrick doing the intro, I'll be happy.

This is interesting even though many people are curious about how Soarin' Over California works. It's been discovered that if you sit in the front row with your family, friends or acquaintances, all of you are likely be lifted higher.

We’ve got a similar attraction up here in Minneapolis at the Mall of America called “FlyOver America”. The ride mechanism is very similar to Soarin’, but it loads on three levels and then each rider section slides out like a drawer toward the screen. Doesn’t have the ‘wow factor’ of Soarin’s take-off lift, but it’s still a good ride. In fact, I like it a lot more than Soarin’ Around the World.

I saw a similar concept with two sets of seats connected by a diagonal bar so one set can be unloaded and loaded while the other end is in the attraction area. The somewhat similar ride at Legoland has only one row and rotates around a wall to allow for loading and unloading during the cycle as well.

My favorite version is "Masters of Flight" at Legoland.

I'd really love to see a video about Epcot's original Universe of Energy ride. The Kinetic Mosaic pre-show, the turntable system, and the traveling theater are all things that fascinated me.

I was surprised that the new avatar ride didn’t manage to fill in my peripheral vision as well as Soarin does. As a result Soarin succeeds more in a feeling of flight

Just spent 3 days at Disney world, first time out here and I will for sure be back. You’re videos are awesome and taught me so much. Thank you, if you don’t mind me asking how do you film such great videos at Disney I know the guardians one today told us no videos and I know it’s hard to record some of the others.

I wonder if the redeveloped ride system where riders are lowered into place is as much fun as the original system. The sensation of being lifted up really adds to the illusion of the flight, such a great way to start the show.

I'm going to have to look again, but I think there is a counterweight system to lessen some of the strain on the system.

Okay I’m dying to know- do you, or have you ever considered, selling or releasing the 3D printing files you use to make these ride models? Or if you’re getting them from someone else, would you share the source? I am changing my upper elementary classroom decor theme to Disney, with an emphasis on Tomorrowland and old school EPCOT and patent images and a general focus on the “keep moving forward” and creativity and engineering side of things. These would make an INCREDIBLE thing to put on shelves and such.

The music is so much better in Soarin' over California. It's the one I put on in the background while I work.

'Over CA' will always be my favorite. The 'World' CGI is a bit too obvious.

What would you call these types? more than 4D but less than a ride characterized by fixed individual ride vehicles moving in sync to a shared main projection (flight of banshee, soarin, BTTF but Simpsons)

I remember this attraction at Disney's California Adventure and I love it. But it's called Soarin' Around the world. I think this narrator should know that before people get on this ride the gentleman that voiced Kronk in the movie The Emperors New Groove and that movie is on Disney plus. By the way, the man I'm talking about is Patrick Warburton.
