Build a strong foundation. Go to a meeting every day. Focus on going 90 days sober. Alcoholics will often point to someone who drinks "worse" than them in order to convince themselves that they are not alcoholics. Everyone is different. For you, where is the bottom? The bottom is where you decide to stop digging. Its your decision. Don't worry about what someone else does or how much someone else drinks. Do not go into bars thinking you will drink club soda. Stay away from them, and stay away from the people who you normally drink with. Take a vacation from the whole scene and focus on yourself, your loved ones, your work, your future. Thank you for your thoughts and progress. You mentioned the worst part about alcohol addiction..... it feels like you just have a bad habit when it's really a drug. All of us "avid" drinkers think we can quit and when we successfully abstain for a period the habit just comes right back. I like how you said its a symptom and not a disease. We drink because of depression or stress when we really need to deal with the root cause first. But you can't drink in moderation and deal with the roots because alcohol blurs your true emotional state. You're not alone! Much success to you and I'll be checking for your next posts!!!

Everyone who admits they have a problem and doesn’t do anything about it have a lifetime of problems ahead. Those that face it head on only wish they had of done it sooner and opportunities gradually present themselves.

A heavy drinker, I was diagnosed with a fatty liver 11 years ago. I quit drinking cold turkey. It was not easy (no AA). I'm sober and my liver healed itself. YOU CAN DO IT !

why is it you are going sober? if you truly want alcohol out of your life i recommend trying kava, i dont know if you have it in your country but it is the best thing i have found to stave off those "ahhh fuck it.. i need a drink" days Me personally alcohol brings out the real me, when im sober i am not myself, if kava was cheaper i would drink it every day.
