@@larryclemmer5583 I have some photos of the DD9 in books. That's cool Larry. Did your father has photographs of the machine? How was driving it?
@larryclemmer55834 жыл бұрын
I wish I had pictures of my father but i do not. The DD9 was used to build the circulation canals to cool the nuclear power plant in Virginia. This was in 1970. There were several DD9s used in West Virginia to build I-64 about the same time.

While your hear watching this maybe you can explain something to me, why do you guys in Canada not tag up the same way the Californians do? ie the scraper does not stop and is picked up on the run? you have cushions on your 11,s yet the 51 stops and you tag up slowly (as compared to the video)
@cullenosbourn330411 ай бұрын
Apparently SO CAL Earthmovers utilizes their Scrapers ALOT ! Just about every video of theirs features their fleet of Scrapers . Another thing to add they got some really ballsy Scraper operators. To come down those steep hills ….. smh. 👍

never ran a scraper but wouldnt it make sense to take a shallower but longer cut so the machine can pull easier?
@marclaky384 Жыл бұрын
I know it's years later but 651's use the dozers as propulsion power. The tractor engine of the scraper is more for hydraulic impliment control and functions. Twin engine push pull scrapers hook up and load over longer distances where as single engine scrapers need assist load in a short but deep cut.

Why doesn't the first dozer to return start pushing instead of trying to keep in the same order. Seems like that would be more efficient, but then again I know nothing about scrapers. Biggest I ever ran was a 330CL
@SoCalEarthMovers8 жыл бұрын
+PA diecast construction Production, don't let the scrapers stop just keep pushing...Most the time they stay in the same order but when one 651 loads out to long the other pushcat breaks off to tag the next scraper

How many yards an hour are they moving?
@williammain32472 жыл бұрын
A Cat 651E heaped capacity is about 44 cubic yards and I see about 3 scrapers a minute or 44 x 3 x 60 = 7,920 cubic yards an hour.
@Coonass4 жыл бұрын
Why push the pans? Do they all need to be pushed? Seems like a shit load of work, hours, fuel, and everything to move one pan of dirt. Will it not dig under it's own power?
@BenDrinkin14 жыл бұрын
No. They won’t load as quickly. Limited by traction. A 657 (twin motors) will self load better or in a gang. 653’s have paddles to load. For moving big dirt these guys are king .

Thought that one farthest from you was going to fall off the edge - from where you were filming that looked a bit hairy. Odd assortment of drivers they must employ - one virtually stopped dead half way down the slope then another goes past you with a virtually empty can.
@88bigbyrd8 жыл бұрын
That's because that scraperhand took way to long and that's how pushcat hands tell you that you fucked up. They leave your ass full or not. Good stuff. I hope it was dean.

+88bigbyrd I bet he went down that hill like 'a bat out of hell' as I presume the brakes had been removed. Wouldn't like to be the very first down on a job like that. The ground in the background looked very flat - had it already been graded.
