After forty years of abandonment, squatting, and becoming a favored site among Urbex enthusiasts, Château d'Annéot (Yonne - Burgundy - France) begins a new chapter in its history.
Purchased in April 2023 by Didier Barbollat and his husband, this historic monument is about to undergo a complete restoration.
We offer you an intimate tour guided by Didier himself, who will share not only the history of the castle but also their passionate vision for its renovation.
The cameras take you through the corridors and still-empty rooms, then to the once-luxurious gardens that will soon be reborn and open to the public starting this summer (2024).

OMG I was just gonna write that. It was dark & I remembered that huge bookcase & thinking that passage was too narrow for my liking! Looks much better in daylight. I m so glad someone is saving it!!

I wonder why the chateau was abandoned in the 1980's? A nice piece of paradise, but I do not like the road running by so close to the property.

A columbine was very important. It means to be seigneural. This means to be an aristocrat. As bigger the columbine as bigger and famous is your family. It was a kind of prestige. A ordinary farmer was not allowed to have a columbine I was taught years ago in France. I hope you don't do any harm to the chateau in to much restauration and killing history.

Check with an expert historian before you throw ANYTHING away. Small scraps of fabric, odd bits of wood can further tell the story of the chateau.
