I am from Karnataka, I had no idea about history of Bhojpuri films!! Even I had pretty bad impression of Bhojpuri films. Thanks for this. I hope Bhojpuri film industry once again achives the same golden status it used to enjoy. I wish people like Ravi Kishan start investing as producers in Bhojpuri movies and improve the quality of the content. You just can't keep taking from it, you need to give it back as well for whole ecosystem to flourish.

Bhojpuri songs & cinema really have impacted the minds of their audience. They tend to think that all women are easy and willing to have cheap fun, and on top of that, they've objectified the image of women in our culture. While I understand that these songs are created for the purpose of entertaining the masses, the subconscious messages of disrespecting women are evident in Bhojpuri cinema.

I am orignally from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, and i am glad that someone finally is talking about this thing. the problem is the lack of awareness about objectification of women that how it negatively impact us as a society. If we talk about experiments, movies can be made on social issues like unemployment, un-education, caste system and politics in realistic manner. Panchayat and Laapata Ladies (though they are in Hindi but very relatable), we can learn a lot from Malayalam movie Industry, that how they improved their quality in 2010s and that really reflect that thing on its audience because they are very mature.

Very informative video. I am a native Bhojpuri speaker and I agree with every important point you raised. One thing which you missed in the video is that Bhojpuri was never given an official language status despite having so many native speakers. This followed by imposition of Hindi in the northern belt led to decline of Bhojpuri literature. Bhojpuri was previously written in Kaithi script, but the script was replaced with Devnagari after India's Independence. In fact, during 1950s, Kaithi script was even used by lower courts in Bihar. Even today, the judges struggle to read those judgements. Writing Bhojpuri in Devanagari script is a challenge. There are certain sounds in Bhojpuri which are not represented by any symbol in Devnagari. This makes it harder for people to write content in Bhojpuri. A major factor behind success of Malayalam, Punjabi and Bengali cinema is that all these languages have their separate script. The non recognition of Bhojpuri as a language also means that very few universities today actually provide Bhojpuri education.

The script is not an issue, neither does kaithi script hold any more claims to Bhojpuri than the urdu script or devnagri scr. And for the extra sounds, it can be easily solved, like marathi did. The problem is with the mentality of the people. I am well aware of the "inferiority" complex bihari people have over their own language. I have noticed they always shift to khadi boli when talking to guests but speak in bhojpuri when talking to close family. The solution is simple, bikas bikas bikas. rest all issues will sort itself.

Biharis really suffer from a lot of discrimination because a certain mindset has been set for the rest of the country. It's sad that an industry who could establish itself like the Punjabi or Telugu Industry didn't really shine well and lowkey ruined the image of people from Bihar, so much so, they feel ashamed of it. Bhojpuri is mostly spoken in few districts of western Bihar and roughly just 25% population of the state yet somehow it is considered as a language of whole Bihar. Many people outside Bihar don't even know about Magahi or Mithila; Just to put it into context it is same feeling as a someone from Maharashtra/Gujarat/Haryana/Punjab being told Hindi is the language of the north and considering everyone deep down south Madrasi and expect them to speak Tamil.

I'm from Bihar but we now live in UP. A lot to work on there, but when it comes to the entertainment industry, it's just non-existent for an average Indian audience. I went to Pune for studies and my friends proudly talked about their local language movies, shows and books there. I just had no idea what to talk about. On the positive side, even though the lyrics of Bhojpuri songs are just trash now, the music part of it is often so awesome and catchy. That shows that creative people are still in place. There is just a lack of initiation from able people. Although recently, with creations like Gangs of Wasseypur, Laapata Ladies, and Panchayat, it seems that slowly, Bihar is making a comeback in the mainstream. Also, given that I become able enough, I am looking forward to be part of the upliftment of Bihar and UP's entertainment industry, in whatever ways I can.

Brother..Domicile certificate acts as proof of permanent residence in the state . For example - we also live in West Bengal born and brought up here so we have domecile certificate of W.B nothing wrong or fake in that in the same way if any bihari living in Kolkata as a temporary person then he have to get domicile certificate of Bihar because he is parmanent resident of Bihar where he born.he can submit that certificate to any state pcs ,gd without any worry nothing wrong in that ..and ❤Why would anyone pretend to be a Bengali ???????? False... We don't need west Bengal domicile certificate just to get job in ssc gd or any pcs examination at all it can be any state where u are the permanent resident of that place.......there is no such eligibility criteria not even in West Bengal state exams anyone can give this exams it's doesn't matter if u belong to Bihar or Bengal.Being a Bihari and army's ' sister ( brother is in ITBP through gd) .I never saw any Bihari with fake Bengali certificate.

At this point of time , Bengali films which produced in Kolkata , are mainly for urban and multiplex audience. Because in many tier 2 or tier 3 cities , single screens are becoming closed and converted into either multiplex or malls . Please make a video of Downfall of Bengali Film Industry ( Kolkata )

Vulgar bhojpuri songs about bengali women created a really bad controversy here sometime back in fact this even effected the national elections in Bengal as many didn't want to vote certain political parties who have strong presence in Hindi heartland.
