Yak 40 and Yak 42 are my favorite. These two jets showed that a concept of regional jet is feasible. Planes like CRJ and Embraer ERJ owes its existence to these plane

The Russians systematically copied and continue to copy the West in everything. There is a lack of creativity and, of course, a lot of technology in the Russian industrial house. They make crude copies of the West. Tell me the name of any international passenger transport airline that operates a modern Russian aircraft for this service? What is the name of the Russian plane it operates? The Russian state company Aeroflot, which is obliged to buy Russian planes, is not valid. What is the successful Russian passenger transport aircraft in the international market? It just doesn't have it today. Let's see, in 30 years the Russian passenger plane IL-96 sold 30 units, the only customer outside Russia was Cubana de Aviação. Meanwhile, just to mention one of the many Boeing models, the 777, sold 1,648 units in the same 30-year period and is now flying around the world, until the Russian plane left the market. Aircraft produced in Russia are flying wagons. It's the market that says that, not me. Russia has nothing like Embraer do Brasil, today the fourth largest manufacturer of civil aircraft in the world. This is indeed a success story.

Not sure how you figure that. They might not get the attention that some US jets get but they have plenty of fans in the Eastern bloc nations. More total fans than a lot of British jets get. Or Chinese for example. It's hard to quantify. Most jets have a high number of fans in the stars they came from, or were mostly used it. So you have to rate the total number of people like to be appreciating them, but you also have to take into account how valuable they actually were vs how well liked they were, in order to be "underappreciated" like you say. For example, Chinese jets arent considered very good by most of the world, but there is over a billion Chinese people, so we would probably have to call them _overappreciated_. I think what you actually mean is more Westerners should recognize them because you like them.

Как называется российский самолет, которым вы управляете? Российский государственный «Аэрофлот», который обязан закупать российские самолеты, недействителен. Чем успешен российский пассажирский транспортный самолет на международном рынке? Сегодня этого просто нет. Посмотрим, за 30 лет российских пассажирских самолетов Ил-96 было продано 30 штук, единственным заказчиком за пределами России была компания Cubana de Aviação. Между тем, если назвать одну из многих моделей Boeing, 777, было продано 1648 единиц за тот же 30-летний период и теперь летает по всему миру, пока российский самолет не вышел из бизнеса. Самолеты российского производства - это летающие вагоны. Это говорит рынок, а не я. All the early ones were bomber designs converted to airliners, hence the glass nose, bombardier station.. I do love old soviet aircraft.

I learned from Skyships to appreciate Soviet airliners . Love those trijets man. yak-40 and Tu-154. Though the Il-62 is just a classic workhorse too. Shame modern liners literally all look the same 😢

Qual é a aeronave russa de transporte de passageiros de sucesso no mercado internacional? Simplesmente não tem isso hoje. Vejamos, em 30 anos o avião de passageiros russo IL-96 vendeu 30 unidades, o único cliente fora da Rússia foi a Cubana de Aviação. Enquanto isso, só para citar um dos muitos modelos da Boeing, o 777, vendeu 1.648 unidades no mesmo período de 30 anos e agora voa ao redor do mundo, até que o avião russo saiu do mercado. As aeronaves produzidas na Rússia são vagões voadores. É o mercado que diz isso, não eu. A Rússia não tem nada como a Embraer do Brasil, hoje a quarta maior fabricante de aeronaves civis do mundo. Esta é realmente uma história de sucesso.
