Giorgio Agamben's Homo Sacer project is introduced, including a sketch of the main concepts deployed throughout the book: the distinction between zoē-bios, biopolitics, zone of indistinction, sovereign power, state of exception, bare life, political theology, sovereign exception, the nomos of the camps and other terms. The video places Homo Sacer within Agamben's larger project. The video ends abruptly while wrapping up introductory themes. Part 1 of 2.

Adrenaline and dopamine may be the oldest. Contrary to what is ostensibly presumed here, European Caucasoids are hardly the only group who have known lordship and dominion over their own and/or others. Humans have social instincts which exclude as well as include. This is why exile or confiscation of land or titles, shunning or ritual humiliation, excommunication or banning from public religious life or making offerings, might be more common yet considered more serious than public executions: the MEANING of the punishment to the ingroup.
