Just old guy's observation, pre-load the barrel notch to the left, (CW viewed from muzzle), same as forward loading scope into pic rail, pre-loading for right twist, during torquing to maintain zero....per Barrett Chief engineer. Also, as an engineer, I suggest best practice alternating torque on each screw in steps up to max 140in-lb. Notice the LongRangeArms SendIt! electronic cant device on left side.....the 5 vertical LEDs visible over shooter's left shoulder.. Can't discern it functioning. Use them on all my LR platforms....better than bubble levels. Rail slopes were 20MOA for commercial; 10MIL for Military. All commercial are transitioning to 10MIL standard. FYI, Hornady discontinued production of 300NM due to difficulty in loading and variability. Barrett includes a bag rider that attaches to stock bottom pic rail.....available for commercial MRADs at $75. The MK22 Deployment Kit is pictured in Merriam-Webester next to SWEET!!!!! Barrett is to offer a small V-6 option to move the kit around....... That's why we keep the young guys around. :) :) :)

On the barrel change. I think you need to change the bolt head first and lock it into the exchanged barrel (close the action on a loose barrel) before you torque the barrel bolts. Not trying to be an ass but I think this is the proper procedure. Keep up the awesome videos Ray! You are an encyclopedia of knowledge. Thank you.

If you use a torque wrench for loosening for whatever reason. It happens. The trick is to run the torque wrench up to its highest torque value, that way when you crack that bolt loose you're unlikely to exceed what the torques setting was at. I have that exact 1/4 snap on torque wrench. You won't hurt it.

If it’s a Barrett it’s a damn good rifle . I was thinking something is wrong with me because I enjoy shooting rifles so much and going for walks in the woods just to go for a walk ( with a rifle of course ) not to shoot any loving creature most of the time . Just go for a walk and check the trails and see what trees needs to fall . Yeah man . I love shooting rifles . Every once in while I get an itch to master a new rifle . Once they’re set with me they’re set and I mark my adjustments for yardage and stay stocked on the ammo they like . I think it’s a great hobby .

I prefer the AI platform. I do have the AXSR and can say that it is better, on paper, than the Barrett. What I mean is for the money you have an ARCA system built right into the hand guard and right in front of the magazine well; barrels are easier to get done because it needs only threading where the Barrett needs a special sleeve; AI has a tried and true system from different countries overseas; the action is smooth and gets smoother with use; more adjustments on the stock than the Barrett; lastly there are aftermarket options more for the AI than the Barrett. Just IMHO.

They make a torque angle digital version I have been looking at that is 600. When the mechanical is 378 I would spend the extra 200 for the digital. Either way your getting a very nice and repeatable torque wrench.

This might come as a surprise but I have been using the Sig3000BDX for many years and they just keep working no matter what I throw at them. I do have the Leicas and some others as well but the SIG’s are my favorite. Take a look at the new 10k’s or the Vortex and I think you will be more than happy. Don’t get caught up in all of the BT tethering as I rarely even use them for that any longer. It’s nice to have but not needed for most applications. By the end of the year I'm hoping to get a desert tech m2. First two barrels 6.5 creed and 338 lapua. Then I'd like a 6 dasher and 7saum. That rifle will be my long range plinker. After that, I'd like a light chassis system chambered in 7-08 and either something in the 7 mag range or 300 mag for a hunting rifle. Weight restriction suck. I have absolutely no idea what rifle that will be, but I know it will have to be modular. I'm not against getting another bullpup for that rifle. I'm short and don't like dragging around a rifle that looks like a Davy Crockett rifle. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. My main focus in shooting has been reloading, so I'm falling behind on all the new rifles out there.

I reckon they should’ve gone .338 LM instead of .338 NM. Someone will chamber the 300NM into the .338 barrel at some point. 300NM and 338NM are the same case. Probably done it to save on bolt faces and ammo production behind the scenes.

Wow I never knew about that range in Burnsville, Looks pretty awesome, speaking of SOCOM and Barrett rifles Ray, I think you should pull some strings and get a few of these mythical new geissele 6mm ARC magazines... I keep hearing different things about what is being shipped and then used with the Barrett 6mm ARC DOD rifles 🤔 I'm wondering if D&H has possibly redesigned a new generation dedicated mag which geissele rebranded (like they did previously with the 5.56 mags until someone busted them for quadrupling the price for stamping their name on the floorplate) or even OKAY ind., they don't appear to be a copy of anything else available that I can find, they look to somehow have nearly the exact curvature and dimensions of a stanag mag but with 25rds of 6mm ARC, and for only $60 each! (It says geissele on the side too, so it's definitely worth it, even if they don't feed) 🤦‍♂️
