Sofía Vergara, born July 10, 1972, is a Colombian model, actress and entrepreneur. She was raised bilingual in English and Spanish, making her transition simple from being a performer in Latin America in Spanish to becoming one in the United States in English. Dubbed "Sofia Viagra",Vergara was already rather well-known in North America from her modeling work, and her first notable acting job in English was in the movie Chasing Papi.

it's obvious she exaggerates her accent now to make her seem more funny and recognisable, back during this interview her voice was much more "normal"

I am so confused. The accent is not that visible. She is lovely. But her current accent is much stronger. In this interview she sounds smoother. Idk.

She is imitating that strong accent to be more famous, without that accent less people will recognize her. She is famous because of the accent

During one modern fam press conference, one Latina asked her if she ever tried to "fix" her accent. She said that yes, in the first few years of her career she was attending expensive lessons 3 times a week, 3hrs per session to learn a more "American" accent, which was hard for her since she has to be really conscious about the tongue and all that shit. Anyway she stopped eventually

For the people confused why she sounds different now than back then, it’s because (she talked in an interview for modern family, a fan asked her if she was gonna work in her accent) she was doing it at the beginning bc she wasn’t getting casted that much. And was wondering how Salma H and Penelope C do it so easily. But she said it was so hard and so expensive that she just gave up, tried again in the mid of modern family if i’m correct.
