Thx for the vid, I just made a purchase for this knife for a 3rd bug out bag. I didn't want something super expensive considering its the 3rd means of cutting in this kit. you did put it thru some intensive test and I'm happy to see the blade held up. Thx again!

Great review! You are probably my favorite knife reviewer on YT. I've been searching for a small budget-friendly EDC fixed blade belt knife, and I ended up getting this SOG. It checked most of my boxes for what I was looking for. I wasn't sure about the blade steel, but your review helped me to pull the trigger on it. Thanks.

Really great video (I know this was a long time ago now) for a fantastic looking run-of-the-mill field knife. These are still being sold, quite inexpensive and look pretty good for a general purpose blade. It’s amazing how knives - even in this style - can cost hundreds and you just made this knife look like there are few that could equal it. I guess whose hand it’s in helps too! Thanks for being so thorough.

I like simple knives sometimes. Like the out of production Kershaw Antelope Hunter 2 or a Mora knife or even the M-37N Seal Pup or Ace, which all feature a plastic or rubber type of handle with the blade embedded into it. They're knives that you can just wash or wipe clean and are useful, but affordable enough that one can buy them without too much concern and even buy a few extras for home, shop or emergency kits. They have lightweight comfortable handles. And anything made with stainless steel can be used as a food prep blade or for cutting rope, making notches or other tasks. We don't have to have expensive knives for everything, every time, day in and day out.

I would like to get this for on-pack carry and belt carry. I think it looks great and I want to use it for its purpose. I do use some knifes in Airsoft fields (milsim) to make stakes for a tent and to make two 4 foot posts that I can mount it to, it’s also seemingly able to make some kind of a small walking stick too which is cool!

It looks like a nice little skinner. I'm cool with the steel used, I don't need a super bionic knife for what I do. I could never see myself purchasing a fixed blade for over $100 bucks. Just my opinion. As someone who isn't into super bionic steel knives that cost $500+ Can someone plz tell me what would you do with a knife of that price? Other than going out to the woods and pretending to be homeless for a day or two, I just don't get it.
@livingsurvival7 жыл бұрын
I'm always ok with paying for the steel and the craftsmanship such as a $150 Tops knife with more steel, a $150 folder with super steel or a $200+ bushcraft knife with custom handles and good steel etc. I agree there are many $500+ "collector" models out there that just don't do it for me. I use my gear not look at it.

Great review, I like that knife. You should do a follow up review of its cousin the SOG ACE, its sheath is even more compact with out the grommet holes and its a camo sheath but no pommel that extends out the handle. Handle on Sog Ace does not have any logo's also.

Living off grid fulltime in the woods my knives get a workout. Tlhis Sog is a great small light weight all around knife. The sheath is nice. However I see no real use for the exposed area to cut cordage. On recent trip into the woods the string of my compound bow came in contact with it. Being kept shaving sharp you can guess the result. It now has a ranger band over that opening.

Ooh, not too shabby. I've been looking for a smaller fixed blade to keep in my car, and this looks like it would fit that very well. And for about $30, I wouldn't be worried about it getting stolen. Do you think you could take a peek at the Camillus CK-9. It's Camillus designed, but produced by Tops Knives. It looks like a really sweet blade, but there aren't any reviews on it.

$175 for the CK-9 though...much better options out there for that price.

Karl Hicks It looks like a good budget camp knife but the big SOG logo on the handle is obnoxious. It's not a deal breaker for this knife but it is on some of there knives and gear. SOG does make some sexy blade shapes.

Statement: Seems like a decent knife, though I would have preferred they not have the notch on it at all. Having the two strap points on the sheath right next to each other would make it much more secure on MOLLE versus an arguably useless razor notch.

I just bought one. Biggest downside is the clip. Pure garbage in my opinion, however it took me just minutes to paracord strap it to my belt at a slight angle, grip forward a bit and it feels great that way. The big logo up and down the grip sides is ugly however it's very easy to transition this knife from foregrip to reverse grip by taking your middle finger and thumb, putting them on each side of the grip and then spinning the knife from forward to reverse and back. The shape of the logo and the outline at the edge of each side of the grip panel seriously enables that kind of rotation move. The grip is extremely solid in the hand and it's easy to lay out where the edge is in relation to your hand. Blade length is a fraction under 4" so it's not a felony in Connecticut, New York, places like that. The exposed metal pommel should work well as a window smasher for vehicle extraction needs post-crash. I drive over 100,000 miles a year so it's possible I might need that one day. This is a very legitimate little street defense weapon.
