SOG Seal Pup vs. SOG Seal Pup Elite Comparison

I compare the $64 SOG Seal Pup to the $124 SOG Seal Pup Elite and talk about whether the additional $60 is worth it. Also, a comparison of the SOG sheath options.
I don't make KZfaq videos, but I briefly had both knives in my possession and thought this could be a useful review. I filmed on my iPhone, so I apologize if the video or sound quality are sub-par. Hope to hear from people in the comments.

The seal pup elite it is much more durable than the seal pup. I don’t know if it’s the coating or the thickness is different but I have both, and the seal pup is not made to last very long. On top of that the seal pup is only $38, and the seal pup elite is 70$ . If you find them at the right price. If you buy it off the SOG website it’s $108. But you can get it from amazon for 72$ right now, I just looked. I have never seen it for 124

Good vid. About to get the Pup Elite myself, They're running ~ $53 on Amazon atm. The Kydex sheath adds ~ another $23 to that. Oh, and the word you're looking for to describe the spine on the Elite is jimping. Again great side by side comparison.

Great Video, Sorry its hard for me to hear you though, I have my volume up to 20 on Windows 10 and my speakers is a Guitar Amplifier through a AUX Cord.

Isn't the Elite Aus8 while the other is Aus6. Or am I thinking of the Stainless Elite version?

The sheath is molle compatible. I have my pup elite molloed to my 5.11 rush back pack. Use the velcro to attach to the molle

Hi there. I noticed the grind on the regular seal pup is a little bit off at the tip.I have the same one. I don't know what's the deal with that. Haven't seen much of that on the other knives on Internet. If someone knows something about that. Thanks, and enjoy your knives, they are a thing of beauty.

I hate velcro on a tactical knife. Too noisy. Same problem with kydex sheets and snap butons.

My seal pup is made it Taiwan not China. Did they change where it’s made?

My first seal pup was also made in Taiwan. Gave it to a friend and regretted it so i bought another. This time i got a Chinese made one. From what ive heard, all regular seal pups are now made in china. As far as quality, the blades are still somewhat the same but the sheath is noticeably better with the taiwanese one. Michael Thibert Taiwan manufacturing is 10x better than the Chinese one. I own both.

I got mine from Amazon (Seal Pup). It’s made in China. Same blade with all the packaging.
