Our area (Texas) is so competitive, the girls have taken gymnastics/cheer since they were little. There is no way someone with zero experience would make a squad here (unless a very small town perhaps). Congrats to you for going for it and making the JV team!

the competition sounds tough over there. here, regardless if tryouts seemed competitive or not, I'm very proud of danbee for going out of her comfort zone and making the team ;)

Cheer, Volleyball and Soccer for girls in TX is SOOOOOO competitive. Sidenote: Indoor soccer on a coed team really develops the muscles for playing varsity level soccer! It's fast paced!!!

@@makaileigh1356 find some stretches that you feel work and maybe watch a few cheer videos on KZfaq so yk what it could be like. And don’t sweat the small stuff, some days you’ll pick up things quick and the next day you may struggle with something you don’t know.

LMAOO I've been cheering (stomp and shake) for 3 years now but I remember being an inexperienced freshman all too well. The struggle of learning 100 cheers in a month before the season started. It only gets easier to memorize dances and cheers and congratulations!!

You had to learn 100 cheers, when my daughter made the JV squad they had to learn 85 cheers & they would get tested in front of everyone, it was a stressful time

haha yeah kinda the same thing w me! i’ve done it completely for nine years but i remember my freshman year of hs when i tried out for sideline for the very first time. it was so hard to get the hang of all of the cheers because i had never done it before. it was so much fun though!

@@oraliarobles9020 Yes we do the 1 on 1 tests in front of everyone still to this day!! I'm a captain this year so I've made it known in my squad that mistakes are totally fine, as long as you are able to get yourself back on track and not completely give up! This is my senior year I'm really going to miss cheering :(

that is so cute! I am glad she had the courage of trying out and she went for it! I remember feeling that way when I was a freshman trying out for colorguard (Dancers with marching band) with zero experience. I ended up being a natural and team captain my junior and senior year. It will be a great year and I hope she makes some amazing friendships and just learns and grows in her skills

OMG SAME! I tried out freshman year and made the team without experience. Then I made varsity winter guard after. I’m currently captain and it’s junior year 🤩 we finally have a season again! That’s so cool because you took a very similar path!

The colorguard and Pom squad are like awkward cousins at my school. It’s not cheer, so we’re not bougie and we don’t think that we’re better than them. And we both get little to no representation so we’re cool 😎 (I’m speaking for the Pom squad btw

watching this gives me nostalgia. i remember trying out for my cheer team freshman year and the feeling you get when you find out you made the team is the best feeling ever. I’m a junior and still do cheer but sometimes i still feel like a freshman lol

I gotta say I literally already knew she was going to make the team the moment I saw the football practice cause she killed it and especially the dance she was teaching you. With no experience she did amazing and I can't wait what the future has for her!!!✨ And as a beginner dancer it's pretty amazing and once again you did AMAZING DAN!!!👏

Made me almost cry when she got the results because I’ve been through times where I spent time trying out for a group and didn’t get in. However, I was able to make it in the next year! It’s always emotional when something you want to do pays off and you’re able to make it in! I’m so proud of you!

@@gracie7212 i wanted to try out on my first year for the cheer team but i gave up on that bc all the girls that were trying out against me were trained since they WERE 3!And after the tryout i saw a girl getting bullied bc she didn't make the team so i didn't tryout for my 2nd year either now i regret it bc i wanted to do it so bad and now i think im too scared to do it on my 3 year lol

i literally did the exact same thing. i had absolutely no experience in cheer and decided to try out on the day of the tryouts but i still made it lol. now i have 27 cheers to learn before school starts for me on august 3rd. also why is her high school cheer dance so much easier than my middle school cheer dance??? that seems illegal.

I’m a gymnast and I can jump really high I’m also very flexible and my best is floor 🙏 so I really hope if I do get into cheer make it I was trying out cheer for a little then quit so I can go into a higher gymnastics team

DONT go to hawaii, the natives on the land are having water shortages to fuel tourism. it's destroying their home, and its just a repeat process of pushing the natives out and the "colonizers" in. please decide on another place to go, you have all the way until February.

Great Job!! I know it’s hard at first learning all of the knew sidelines and cheers and dances lol but you will start getting better and better and it’s hard when your just starting but cheer is so fun and you can make such great friendships and have so much fun!! I really hope she enjoys it cheer is such a wonderful experience. I was a cheerleader for about 2 years and even though I had all that experience I got cut when I tried out for highschool. It was one of the most devastating and heartbreaking moments of my life. I just hope she enjoys every moment of it. Best of luck to her in the future💙

Everyone PLEASE take this advice bc I wish I had realized this in middle school 😭 middle school is THE time to be trying out for sports and things you’re interested in, because in high school they’re much more serious and it’s going to be a lot harder to make a team for a sport you’ve never played before

My school, (At least the sports I did) let everyone on, despite how good or bad you were. But I think for Basketball and Baseball they cut people.

I tried out in April for varsity cheer and made it 😂 no experience what so ever! I never thought I would ever do it. I’m a tomboy 😂 gotta love mah besties they roped me into it!

@@meowmeow17757 Maybe you can try and practice simple things before school starts like flexibility, handstands, cartwheels, back/front flips, round offs, and handsprings. i plan on trying out this year too so that’s what i’m doing😅

congratulations!! I was so excited when i made JV freshamn year. it felt like a dream come true. Keep working and improving I promise its worth it. I'm a junior now and also the head flyer of my varsity squad. I love cheer it is honestly so much fun and you made so many good relationships and bonds out of it! good luck :)

Same I tried out too without being flexible at all or knowing how to do any stunts or flips! I made my high school jv team because of Anna Mcnulty on KZfaq! She made me way more flexible and I was able to do cheer jumps easily I’m also a freshman goodluck in cheer! :)

at least your school let’s you try out as a freshman lol, I wanted to try out too this year as a freshman but they can’t ( I have no experience either) but good luck 🤞🏼 I would say just be loud, smile , and have a good attitude don’t be one of those “ugh I don’t wanna be here” kind of ppl 💕
