i always encourage my friend to sing any song on Sohyang's version XD, she is really great and can sustain a C#6 mixvoice, just need to learn more about belting with mixvoice because her mixvoice is heady, so i told her to add more chesty sound to her mix like Sohyang

That's caused by enka singing long time ago in Japan. Mari really liked it and decided to sing with this type of vibrato. Although it can cut off the resonance, the support is present to C6 ^^

@ally kelly I recommend you to watch Mari Hamada - 5 reasons why she's Japan's best singer. The author was quite objective ^^ As I think, she started her career with a very bad technique, but this year she's celebrating her 40th anniversary, she's 60 years old now. She could not sing for that long with, as you say, wobble vibrato creating tension. It's just..it gets throaty placement when she uses it, which is, of course, bad, and this is why she gets tension SOMETIMES. She can support as high as I say, just KZfaq blocked almost every song of her from any concert. I've been trying to upload a showcase of her latest concert in 2019, but it's blocked again and again 😅 Also, when you just used to hear her vibrato, it doesn't even sound like there's something unpleasant or wrong, hehe. Also, her tone is gorgeous, and every concert has acapella singing(1-2 songs)

@@monaco4895 celine's point needed to be improved is her inconsistency with highnotes/upperbelts (>=Eb5) Whitney is a well-developed vocalist. Great mid belts, good upper belts, great headvoice, decent/good agility, great dynamic&breath control, decent/good low notes. Whitney does not have any actual major weakness. If I have to talk about Whitney's weakness..., I would say it's her high mixs but it's ok coz she is a type of vocalist favoring heavy/dark coordination with full density

Whitney's major weakness was her lows, when she was younger she struggle to project G3 she improved when she got declined but i agree that Whitney was the best overall And Whitney's agility is amazing mind you

SoHyang is automatically better given the fact that she is not a generic Pinoy karaoke "star" who has no sense of identity nor musicality whatsoever. A real SINGER strives to be the best version of THEMSELVES and inject their identity into every song they sing, which Paulette absolutely never does. Not to mention SoHyang is technically far more refined than Paulette.
