She cried backstage because she felt she made some mistakes during the performance. She ended up winning the episode. When you watch Fate from the same series (use the Vimeo version) you'll see a good bookend to this one. She finished third in this Season to two much more (at the time) well known performers.

We have no names. There are several distinct Sohyang fan groups - international music fans, voice students/teachers, international Christian music fans, and k-drama fans (of her soundtracks). There is less overlap in the songs they listen to than one might think. She didn't win I Am a Singer but graduated - won 4 episodes, second 5 times, third 3 times and never lower. Competition level was very high.

I'm always moved to tears listening to Sohyang, and I also don't understand Korean. I think the lyrics are less important than the emotion. This song's about pain and loss, but I believe those people crying in the audience would have cried even if she was singing in a language they didn't understand.

sohyang is just like a precious gift from God for people to get healing with her songs(especially now in a covid situation) in the world..and she makes stories like movies when sings every song to tell..

This is such a heartbreaking song that Sohyang was so moved by giving voice to the words that she cried when she was off of the stage. when you see the words, you will understand the ending of the song. I love how she frequently ‘cries’ out her notes on emotional sections. It not only adds emotional depth but also makes the highs sound rounded and the transitions buttery smooth, preventing breaks and abrupt jumps in the flow both in the vocal aspects and the emotional mood of the song. By the way, in the clip she said that at the point of the epic B5 belt, all she could feel was pain. However, she achieved the highest average rank among the contestants, and never placed outside of the top 3. There are many great singers in Korea and there are many factors that could affect the audience's reaction, and Sohyang was relatively new in the public's eyes at that time. There are way too many performances by Sohyang worthy of reactions. Here are some of the major eras (by appearances in TV competition shows) to know when watching Sohyang's performances: Prior to 2012 - she was mostly known as a singer among the Contemporary Christian Music circle. Dennis, yes, you got a bad version. There is at least one with the lyrics and WITHOUT the bit with her speaking over the high point of the song. You should locate one with the lyrics and do it again. (If you haven't already.) This is a song about a lost love, and is heartbreaking with or without the English lyrics. The audience knew what was coming - you could tell by their faces at the beginning. She is spectacular in her ability to connect with an audience and convey the emotion of a song. When you get to "Hug Me" do NOT pick the one from the Mask contest. I consider these performances to be unacceptable - not because her singing isn't right on the money, but you HAVE to see her.
