I'd also go with Epoch now mostly due to series connection capability.

Without editing: ... I like the idea to mount in various positions, sides or ends as well. I think I'd like the terminals at the end rather than sides. Also, it might be nice for someone to come up with two ground terminals and one hot for either direction.

Exactly what Derek Andrews said. NMC is what is in most LI ion batteries, I think there may be other battery types in li ion but most of them seem to have nmc batteries, but they both have lithium in them, just lifepo4 do not catch fire as often because they are not as combustible as nmc when exposed to oxygen. So less likely to burn your house down.

Great video. Really good points. Have you done or seen any good teardown videos of the Epoch? I think for my application (12V Motorhome coach batteries, likely 3x 200A in parallel) the downsides you mentioned for the SOK wont impact me, and i really like their BMS and the fact the cells are serviceable. Though, if the internal build quality of the Epoch matches that of the SOK, then I might be swayed that direction!

Good intro. Since I was one of the “people that commented” on the other video I already knew the answer. 😆 like I mentioned before though, I still think people should just stick to labeling things based of the general assumption that Lithium Ion means one thing and lifpo another. I bet they’ve lost some sales because of their labeling choice. Still seems like s nice little battery. Also, I didn’t realize those SOK batteries couldn’t be attached in series. That’s a shame.

Ah yes. That’s right. The heaters wreak havoc on the balance between batteries. I think I remember talking with you about that before.

@@GavinStoneDIY If series connected 12V yeah one battery might start charging. But you'd think the charger would pick up on the voltage. But then maybe the charger trips and no charging happens at all. 🤔

You can series connect a non heated SOK Battery. Plus the SOK is easy to disassemble and replace a cell if needed. SOK is a superior battery. You do like to spin. The SOK is available in Metal or Plastic case (Marine Grade) also 24 Volt.

In my opinion, if you ever need to open the battery and replace a cell, it wasn't worth buying in the first place; yes, SOK has a non-heated marine battery, and Yes, they also have a 24V battery. I did provide a link in the description.

Epoch comes apart easy, you take out the case screws. I have both these batteries. One has a high quality bms in a waterproof case with communication and the other is scrap electronics in an old ammo can.

Very good comparison. I don't think the Epoch was available when I bought the SOK. My disapointment with the SOK is I had to disassemble and top balance both of them. The app could be better as the SOC % is totally inaccurate for over a year now.

Hi, a simple question that I can't find an answer to. If you put two 12 v batteries in paralel with a discharge capasity of 100A each will you be able to draw 200A from the bundle? (like using an iduction cooker)

Here's a question 4 u or any viewer. So now that I've ĝot Growatt 24v with 200AHs and my Titan with 148AHs,I'm not sure if I wanna keep them separated or return the the 2 batteries from Growatt to Titan?I could keep separate&have 3 separate charge controllers which would have benefits for me&many different kinds of panels or I could put them back,have 2 charge controllers&348AHs all in 1 unit&location.What say u?

Fyi I own 26 100watt panels,15 of 1 brand,6 of 1 and 5 of 1. I was doing 15 on 1 controller and 6 on the other and 5 just sitting in shed.

@@scarygary3569 It's hard to say depending on your situation with what you need power for. I would run them all it's never a bad idea to have back up if 1 system fails

@@Roll2Videos I haven't gone totally off grid or anything,just supplementing to save in power bill but past couple summers I've been running my window A/C units directly off Titan from 6am-8pm.Pretty much all sun power,only a Lil bit of battery in a.m. till sun comes up over trees.Maybe I'll keep seperate and lessen the load on 1 unit&split it up between the 2 systems&see how it goes this summer.Thx for input 👍

Paused: all of them... there are (I think) 7 different chemistries of lithium ion ... which is a generic or general term. When we remove cobalt we have lithium ion without cobalt (right?) now back to un pause. 🙂

i have Valence batteries that are made up of Lithium Iron Magnesium Phosphate My Ecoflow Delta Mini has a Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (NCM) battery There are always new technologies coming out. One recently i saw on youtube was a battery chemistry composed of Salt. Im guessing the Green movement wants to do away with Lithium and are looking for new battery Chemistry.
