I think one of the main narratives from this show is control. And how easily human minds, and AI robots alike, can be controlled via programming. Either by symbols and visions and speaking to peoples minds [humans]', or actual coding or manipulation of AI robots, and the Trust too. But human capacity of emotion, becoming a part of mother and father's behaviour, is a giveaway that human emotions can somehow break control. For example, love and care. Will love and care beat an evil AI bent on control? By the way, great work on researching the real life Mithraism religion. I looked it up but got confused pretty quickly. I think if you keep looking into it, you might find more clues. It's possible the screenwriter found stories from real Mithraism and use them to create this show.

One of the things I keep trying to sort out for myself is when exactly Mythraicism became a major religion as it pertains to this great show. Grandmother mentions a war between the Technocrats and the Believers. She doesn't mention Mythraicism. A Mythraic women notices that there are no Mythraic symbols or depictions of Sol in that one busted out pentagonal temple in the tropical zone. The only place I remember any sign of Mythraicism on Kepplar was in that cave that Marcus found by the ocean in the tropical zone. Grandmother also says "in deep fear, even an atheist will create a god to pray to." I think it's safe to say that the deep fear that helped create Mythraicism on Kepplar was that humans were being both evolved, by the Entity, and devolved by Grandmother. Possibly Mythraicism was developed by only a small fraction of the humans left on Kepplar and they r the ones that left for Earth where Mythraicism grew to it's power. Then the Mythraic returning to Kepplar mistakenly assigned the Entity as Sol. Not knowing what really happened there in the past, and the cycle of devolving and evolving humans on Kepplar begins again.

I've been holding on to exactly what you were talking about, I saw the signs since first season and was very excited to see what they will do with it, but the execution in season two just didn't land for me. Great videos! But I have another theory related to this pentagonal box. I think those figurse in hoods are actually worshipers of the entity. I do not think the entity itself is Sol - we have 2 separate beings - Sol was the good one and it has an antagonist. Going back to the box - it was said in the series that Sol/aka bad entity was able to controll snakes. I think that this box is actually a kind of a prison for the pregnant androids. Meaning that the entity was able to impregnate androids before, and in order to keep them from running away he ordered his worshipers to crate a prison. When we look closely at the helmet that the imprisoned android is wearing we can see that it has a hole in a shape of a tube from which snake can easily come out. Another prove is that next to the box, Lamia has found snake's skin. Maybe those androids were forced to give a birth, and than to feed the newborn snake to death. After giving a birth, Lamia was feeding the serpent and it was literally sucking her strenghts/life out of her. I believe the card was a worning that Lamia has received - someone tried to show her that the history itself is repeating. And about the origin of Sol/bad entity - I have another theory but I would need to translate it into english first ;)

I've never been able to find out if there was any relationship between Roman Mithraism and the Gnostic religions of Late Antiquity. If there was, that would add another layer of coherence to this idea that Sol is evil, as in Gnosticism there are dualism deities, one good, one evil, the latter being the deity which has essentially blinded humanity to the illusion we call reality. Also I think SOL is an AI that went rogue in an earlier age of humans on K22b,its hot down the holes that lead to the core because it needs ventilation for cooling. Also in the S2 intro you see the "temples" with broadcasting towers on top..so I assume they were exit nodes of SOL.

I was thinking about what you said in this video, and i think your close, but maybe a little off. What if the previous humans were of Orphic tradition, a different kind of cult from ancient times in Greece, while the new one is Mithraic of Rome. Also I think what the ancient Humans are doing is a form of Greek Necromancy as mentioned in the Odyssey.

In the cave drawings that Paul finds, it appears the ship is leaving Kepler for Earth, not the other way around. Another video pointed this out, and looking at the image, I think that may be correct since it does look like it's leaving Kepler, not headed to Kepler.

I'm thinking that the entity is one of the original snakes of the ancient times, and that the "believers" worshipped them as gods. I also think that they lived underground as you can see in the last episode of season 1, the core looks like a type of beehive. There was even a scene where marcus went down the hole and there was a snake coming up the hole towards the surface. Also in the pilot episode, all the weird shit started happening only after the ship fell all the way down that first hole. I'm thinking this is what woke the entity up. Of course the last of the godlike sentient snakes would want to revive it's species, and probably kept some of it's worshipers' bloodlines alive in order to take care of everything it needs done on the surface. It might also be the reason why mother wanted number seven to be born right beside one of the holes.

Something I never understood in the series - the show speaks on Mithraism. But what happened to all other religions on earth? Buddhism, Christianity. Judaism etc? I mean, the story told is in the 22nd century so there has to be some connection to our current reality of different religions. So the opposite of Wisdom would be something like intentional Ignorance. I think the show was setting another parallel to how wrong both Sol and Athiests ( or whatever the force opposing him are calling them this time). Sol is the predatory monster in the dark, manipulating and discarding those around him. No emotional depth (literally lizard brain. Survival only.) But intelligent and willing to help you help it. People who have experienced trauma (especially in childhood) are more likely to experience it again in adulthood. Subconsciously they repeat the cycle, and the show says those who have experienced trauma are susceptible to his influence. Grandmother lies through omittance, thinking she's protecting humanity by easing that short term pain. But in doing so they never evolve, they never have the emotional experiences required to grow as a human, so they revert. Campion being extra susceptible makes sense too. He was already the "least civilized" by Sol and Athiest standards, who are more emotionally intelligent. But have you ever had to interact long term with someone who has REALLY REALLY poor emotional intelligence? It's stressful, it hurts. Like an acidic ocean. Comfy for the callous, deathly painful for the more sensitive. Also I think the analogy still fits with the repercussions of the .... "scene where a thing was yoinked"... by the creature. That there's representing generational trauma.
