Check out this awesome and very compact solar e-bike setup. Not only can you solar charge your bike, but you can charge other devices as well! AOTARKI Flexible Solar Panel: amzn.to/3Vj6F9I

I Do like it better than my last to or current prototype. Mines light but I got a ways to go. You do want your panels as straight as possible though. I actually run my 5amp panel and set up and with magic diodes I can use a wall charger and panels at the same time for double the current. oh never mind I use the same charger. I like the little box you made that's neat. Awesome vids keep it up! Your 7210A seems to top at the same spot unless I use dual PSU

Thanks, I know the panels should be flat, but they should also be tracking the sun ideally. This solar panel has more diodes than your typical panel, so it should perform better in partial light. So the plan is to get whatever amount of charge I can while I ride and finish it off when I get to camp. Then I can properly position the panel for maximum energy production.

Meanwhile I'm kicking myself for getting the gray Doggyhut. Neon green looks real good and super visible. Great trailer though, I use mine to haul my camping gear...I don't even have a dog lol.

I am absolutely interested in seeing a video.. I have been thinking of this idea for a long time but don’t have the electronics design knowledge.. I could make one though.. I guess we need to get to sharing your page.. I found you by accident by checking out the Engwe bike.. I believe that your solar panel was developed for special ops soldiers in Iraq to charge their notebook computers and electric blankets as they hid in spider holes.. Great video..

Thanks! Yes, I know they do make them for the military. It's a really nice panel. All the shares help, looking forward to sharing the build.

Great find with that high quality solar panel. Seen another video showcasing a 200w foldable panel lile this, high quality and expensive as well. i Just ordered my MPT-7210A solar charge controller to experiment charging my 52V battery for my DIY e-bike! Love this setup for E-Bikepacking. I would love to see more on the breakdown of the box, did you add a Solar Boost adapter inline with the panels before the MPTT controler? Solar panel > boost controller > MPTT charge controller > battery? Thx
@SFARCOАй бұрын
Thanks. The mpt-7210A is both a mppt and boost controller. If you are wanting to only charge your bike battery, then that is all you need.
@TheCompjunkieАй бұрын
@@SFARCO I did see that in the listing as well. So you essentially printed the case, added a DC to DC 12V Buck converter, then added the USB Port adapter, that step it from 12V to 5V USB. Ya that isn't a bad project at all. I'll prob make a case for mine as well. I have built a few battery boxes with a similar design. Converted my 52V E-Bike battery for use in my boat battery box, so I can use my minn kota trolling motor. More range and only 9lbs to carry! Compared to my heavy marine battery!
@SFARCOАй бұрын
@TheCompjunkie That sweet! Way to be inventive. And yes, you are correct about this project. Its a simple build with big benefits. Less weight and space over a separate battery bank.

It was great but how fast is it charged in the real world? Can it charge one battery as fast as I'm draining the other battery???????
@SFARCO2 ай бұрын
If you talking about riding full throttle, no pedaling, then no. It's not designed for that. I made it to extend the range for bike camping trips. While riding, it won't be getting full voltage because it won't have the ideal angle to the sun. But when you're at camp, you can angle it properly and get better performance.

I bought a 30a 48 volt boost controller . It costs $30 on Amazon. It has 2 usb ports, also how is yours different ?

When I made it, I couldn't find anything that wasn't super expensive. I would love it if you had a link to yours so I can check it out.

Infinite travel opportunity? 🤔 lol. Make a jacket out of the solar panels and put a little square on your helmet haha
@SFARCO Жыл бұрын
Who said anything about infinite travel opportunities? Made mention that the solar panel could be mounted to a variety of surfaces. But I don't know what you are talking about.

Too much wiring. Would have been better to use a small 200 watt solar generator. IE: Pecron 200 watt solr generator. The inverter is built in. Works for me!!
@SFARCO9 ай бұрын
How is that less wires? You still need a wire to run from the solar panel to your solar generator, and a wire from the solar generator to your bike battery. And I guarantee that solar generator is heavier than this charge controller.
@SFARCO9 ай бұрын
Not to mention that 200 W H is a fraction of the capacity most bike batteries are so it's really not going to cut it.
@beaus_poormeatball9429 Жыл бұрын
You no make it anywhere battery will run out. Pulling to much heavy things. Solar panel panel not get direct light. Why not just buy 3 batteries. Leave dog at home.
