My Stirling engine is running on solar {{:-)
I found this nice little solar tube on Ebay, its from North American Solar Solutions.
The big advantage with evacuated solar tubes is they don't need a tracker to operate.
Just place them in the sun and they heat up.

Nice Job! One limitation is that air is a fairly good insulator. I suspect that if you used a cheap can a lithium axle grease on the inside of the evacuated tube, it would hold up under the temperatures and would conduct the heat much faster than air to your stirling engine. Second thing, your radiator to expel waste heat shouldn't be black and sitting in the sun. Keep as much sun off it as you can to try to get more power.

Five years later, I have been using one tube two and a half feet long, five inch interior, made for use as a massive oven. I havent gotten round to making the stirling engine, but I am very certain when I do I wont be worrying about energy. I will use the beeswax I have been collecting as well, so it can go well beyond the daylight hours. Still upsets me to see these tubes so underutilized and shut out in the usa. Now they cost insane amounts of money, due to tariff and "ebay" scenarios.

🔴 What Is Islam? ⚠️ 🔴 Islam is not just another religion. 🔵 It is the same message preached by Moses, Jesus and Abraham. 🔴 Islam literally means ‘submission to God’ and it teaches us to have a direct relationship with God. 🔵 It reminds us that since God created us, no one should be worshipped except God alone. 🔴 It also teaches that God is nothing like a human being or like anything that we can imagine. 🌍 The concept of God is summarized in the Quran as: 📖 { “Say, He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He does not give birth, nor was He born, and there is nothing like Him.”} (Quran 112:1-4)[4] 📚 🔴 Becoming a Muslim is not turning your back to Jesus. 🔵 Rather it’s going back to the original teachings of Jesus and obeying him.

I feel I have a deep misunderstanding of how these evacuated tubes work. Is it like a heat pump? If I scale up (theoretically) the diameter of the tube, does the heatpipe become even warmer? Analogous to the previous question, can I put these evacuated tube 'concentrators' in series to get extremely high temperatures? I don't understand...
@MsSomeonenew
@MsSomeonenew 7 жыл бұрын
Well there are a couple of parts, on the exterior you have a double wall glass tube with vacuum in between which makes for best possible insulation, that is essentially the main party piece. Then on the inside you usually get a light absorbing foil so it actually turns that light into heat, and this is pretty much what you see in this video, glass tube with foil inside. And after that they can go one better and add a heat pipe, which are essentially copper tubes filled with special gas mixes which evaporate and condense to bring heat up to the highest point, which is usually what commercial systems do. They are however intended for a couple hundred degrees only(can shatter if you take them too far), if you wanted something more then concentrating light into a single heating point is the way to go.

question - i am a female with no mechanical or electonic experience but have been educating myself with the idea of passive solar heating from my condo window, but than discovered the solar tubes. I saw your video and said that is it! that is what I need to power the heat. Now.............here is the question - what do i need to do what you did? the tube, which I found on ebay, the stirling engine? But alot of them say low temp. Do I need a high temp? When you put the tube on the engine, did it cause alot of heat? I dont want to start a fire,but I want to create heat in my house................ I would really appreciate input. I think the passive solar window idea will look like hell. this I could put in my window. I would be willing to hire you to make it for me................ let me know. thanks.
@nitaiflick3050
@nitaiflick3050 10 жыл бұрын
You don't need the Stirling engine if your only goal is heat. The solar evacuated tube is used to convert the sunlight into heat. If your goal is to heat your house, you would use the solar tubes to collect the heat, and then you need a way of getting the collected heat into your house. This is generally done by heating a fluid with the solar vacuum tube, and then plumbing the fluid to radiators in a house. Look up "Evacuated Solar Collector System". More often than for this purpose, the tubes are used to heat the water supply. The Stirling engine is an engine that is powered by heat, and he's using it here to power an electrical generator.

This radio is XIRON KC-5910 FM radio that use 2 AAA batteries (3v all together) with current about 100mA so the power production of the engine is about 0.3W. Solar stirling engine is used as solar stirling dish and hold the world record of 32% efficiency (for comparison the maximum efficiency of solar cell is about 24 %). See for example www.greenoptimistic.com/solar-stirling-engine-ripasso/#.WOnnQNSLQYw
@stephank9035
@stephank9035 2 жыл бұрын
@@andonrangelov8844 24% was only with flat solarcells - such with concentrated light (cpv) was even 5 years back towards 40%, but thermal might be cheaper to store, evt. combination might even more efficient. But for cloudy regions classic moduls+accumulator seems t.b still more attractive.

@RogerJonker
@RogerJonker 9 жыл бұрын
Yulian Baskoro No! You can't charge a phone or tablet. The generator produce a max of 8 Volts with no load. The moment you connect a radio or led the Voltage drops to 3 V. The current on the load is at max 15 or 20 mAmps. So it takes a year to charge a 2000 mA LiPo :-)
@ubby1
@ubby1 9 жыл бұрын
+Yulian Baskoro that wont be possible. you could use the 8 volts on a 5v volts device for a short time or with an resistor, but also you have to keep in mind. the power surge from the phone would be wait to great, for example a standard usb port delivers 500-2000 mAMPs on 5V
@andonrangelov8844
@andonrangelov8844 7 жыл бұрын
No it will not be possible, because this radio is XIRON KC-5910 FM radio that use 2 AAA batteries (3v all together) with current about 100mA so the power production of the engine is about 0.3W. This power output of the engine is far way beyond the 5w for tablet (smart phone).

The Problem here is barely about the mechanism or its potential, but the problem is that this technology is obselete compared to Solar Cells to produce electricity.. In the Stirling engine: Solar heat TO Temperature Rise To Air expansion TO Mechanical Movement TO Belt Drives To Dynamo/Motor TO Electricty In Solar Cells Solar Heat TO Electricity. The Losses due to friction and resistance are tremendous, Solar cells would be cheaper, Easier to maintain, smaller, Lot more Efficient. The Stirling engine predates the Modern day IC engine and was earlier run on heat/Steam/Flame. This tech has applications where Rotary and Flywheel type Movements are Required. Bottomline, it needs better practical applications than this. Some better solar powered Stirling engines out there, worth a look

Still bothers me that no one has taken those tubes to create all usable potentials. Power generation using high temp TEG (seebeck) modules(NOT TEC MODULES), Or paired with the ability to generate cold with the ammonia sealed systems (Crozby icy balls anyone?). Air systems. Some use them for cooking, but not to their full potential. But back to power, you can easily have that same tube generate 12-18 watts using a aluminum cannister filled with a particularly dense level of wax and a seebeck high temp TEG and to the external of it into a heatsink or water flow or float or standing, and well beyond daylight hours. People completely underestimate those solar tubes... really drives me crazy to be incapable of building the systems.

when he hooks up the radio the stirling engine slows down because the electric motor is having to produce energy to run the radio. therefore suggesting that it's not fake unlike other free energy videos on youtube where the motor never slows down when a load is intro-dust.
