Exactly, my original supplier was going to offer me a 6kW inverter, which would have "just" done, but would have been working hard at times, I said no I want the 8, so that's what I got...it copes with everything I throw at it !! 👍 The Wattlebird is looking terrific !!😎🤠

8kW is just the right size for us as well. If we had all the extra stuff, the younger ones have we would need at least a 12kW

As you know I run a 5 Kw inverter (5Kw resistive loads and rated 4Kw with inductive loads depending on the power factor) Through my over twenty years experience living with off grid power, I find the "minimum" size inverter for a house with all electric is 8 Kw. A 5 Kw will work if one watches what loads they have running at any one time but 8 Kw is the minimum I would recommend for the average size Aussie house. My 5 Kw works fine for my little one bedroom cabin but even then if I put on the kettle while the induction stove is cooking with the electric hot water system running then it would stress it out. Hence why I have a timer on my hot water to come on at midday and then turns off until the next day once the water is hot. Ya gotta love K-Mart for some spending experience. 😆I can picture it now, you would have checked out the specs on the back of "every box" looking at the wattage draw before it went into your trolly. It's what us off gridders do before making that purchase 🤣🤣

So true. Me handing the fine print to Sigi. What does that fine print say love? LOL, But we need to know. 8kW is just right for us as well. 5kW is a tad small, but I pushed it to its limit today. Had to do that test, after all, that is what most people have on when they get out of bed. Their brains are not working yet. Need to get that first coffee and toast into them.

I must confess I did end up getting a Victron inverter. I've got it configured currently to work in the same way as my MPP Solar inverter does which is fantastic. The Victron is also a LF inverter, the MPP Solar is a HF inverter. The Victron handles overloads substantially better. The MPP Solar shuts down when you go even a little bit overload. No doubt the Deye is similar to the Victron and it has a bit of extra in it for a short period of time before it overloads. The downside to the Victron was I actually needed help getting it configured as it was a bit confusing for me as to how to get it configured how I want.

Victron are ok. I believe they are working on a New all in one system. Let's hope it works as flawless as the Deye and does not need all the add-on overpriced rubbish victron like to sell you just so it can all connect to the internet and talk to each other.

@@JustinCaseSolarPower Yes so the Deye has solar charging built in, Victron doesn't. The Deye has monitoring built in, the Victron doesn't (you need a Cerbo GX). I already had the MPPT's and the Cerbo so it wasn't an expense for me. I still have and use the BMV-712 and it keeps a pretty close idea of the battery SOC but it's usually out by about 1 maybe 2Ah each cycle. The MultiPlus-II can feed into the grid but that is where I am getting stuck, Ian over at Energy Connections has been very helpful with this however.

Like I said. Victron have a new all-in-one in the planning stage, I believe. We will wait and see what that is like. It may even get approval for use in Australia.
