Sir in January, ocean currents in Northen hemisphere go towards Arctic region I understand, but in same in southern hemisphere why ocean currents never go to antarctic region and make little bend toward equator region land , I never really understand this,your videos are awesome and it really helped me but will u pls answer my query?
@bikrambeas
@bikrambeas 6 жыл бұрын
Dear Aspirant, your question can be answered in many ways. 1. Since the Southern Hemisphere consists of more water than land and similarly in Northern Hemisphere there is more land than water due to which the there is a huge difference of temperature and pressure. Pressure gradient force is less as the isotherms of the Antarctic region are more straight lines. So, the movement of wind becomes less towards such regions because wind requires the strong zone of convergence or divergence. Moreover it is a very pressure zone which inhibits the ocean currents to its sides. 2. On the other side the presence of both more land and water makes the pressure gradient force more active and thus the wind i.e. North Atlantic Drift blows towards Arctic region during winters and thus makes the ocean warm and suitable for navigation. 3. This may be the particular case in January because in this month the sun is over Tropic of Capricorn i.e. sun rays fall 90 degree on this latitude and thus makes the air warm and rises up to create a low tropical pressure zone thus attracts the winds from the south polar region which has extremely high pressure that ultimately cause wind to bend towards this tropical or equatorial zone.
