A conversation I had with a friend prompted this. He believe that he needed to buy different appliances to allow him to use solar. What is the fact?

Another great video, thank you. In summary: 1) The size of solar system components (inverter, batteries, solar panels) needed depends on your energy consumption, it is not a one-size-fits-all approach. 2) Having more battery storage capacity is better, allowing you to run loads for longer periods without sun. 3) To calculate the solar panel capacity needed, take your daily energy consumption (kWh) and divide by the average sun hours per day in your area (using a conservative estimate). 4) With your current 7.4 kW solar array, you can only charge your 26 kWh battery bank to around 80% on a sunny day based on your 30 kWh daily consumption. 5) Prioritizing charging batteries first is important when solar production doesn't meet total energy needs to avoid draining batteries. Question: Given the relative cost of the components, should we get the maximum solar panels our inverter can handle, and then build up the batteries?

Hello Tony. Excellent summary. I would get all the panels I can get. With good quality lithium batteries you can add more later. You can't do this with lead acid batteries. Thank you for watching and commenting

Good explanation Chris, not many people understand how to size a system correctly. Also, it's quite novel to see how far your home system has come, its so clean and streamlined now, i can't forget the early days but we learnt so much !. Take care and perhaps we can see more videos akin to this in future. Cheers

Hello Josh the inverter in the video is a tester. My normal unit is much smaller. Yes I have come a long way. I intend to do more like this. Thanks for the suggestion

Excellent video as usual. When you hear from a professional, you will know. For those with limited roof space, getting high efficiency panels, like the Jinko Tiger Neo panels and prioritising solar panel's orientation and angles can maximise generation. This will circumvent having to oversize to reach estiamted generation capacity. I cringe whenever I see solar panels on steeply inclined roofs ("send down the rain" roofs). Nigeria is roughly on the equator and has an approximate latitude of 5 to 6 degrees. Consequently, a flat or slightly tilted panel (to ENCOURGAE RAIN TO WASH OFF DIRTS) is ideal.

Thank you for watching and commenting. We need to encourage Nigerians to build roofs that are solar friendly. We don't build attics, there is no reason for the roofs that we see

Great stuff again Dr. Had my eyes for on-grid with SolaX hybrid 3phase X4G4 10k inverter with a 10k battery but only 5k panels with plan to add more panels later. Need to use EPS and also generator as have rain water small pump in case of blackout. Considering also the matebox kit. Anything else to consider in such a setup? I will be net-metering so on-grid, but many tell me why and why not go off-grid. So is there a setup with a single inverter that can be net-metering but also off-grid with more panels without power company aware of the extra production (the off-grid side)?
@drsolar2 ай бұрын
What you listed is more than sufficient. Net metering is not applicable to our market so I can't advice. Don't export to grid. Self consumption only. Thank you for watching and commenting

Are the rumours of Nigeria allowing grid-exporting very soon true?

I kinda like the solax inverter, where do I get one please?

You can get it through AWPS Renewable Energy LTD

Do you think if you had oversized your panels, it would have charged your battery to 100%? Again, are you suggesting that it is not necessary to buy inverter fridge or A/Cs?
@drsolar2 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching and commenting. More panels will charge my batteries faster. The inverter fridge eliminates the surge you see on startup. The fridge pulls about 120 watts on start up that number jumps to 1000. I have an inverter AC so I wont comment. The non inverter window unit pulls stops then pulls. The inverter AC varies what it pull to the extent that the number becomes so small.

Hybrid inverter and charge controller + inverter which is better or more durable?

They each serve different functions. The quality and durability varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.

@@drsolar what are the functions or differences of the hybrid inverter and non-hybrid inverter?
@drsolar2 ай бұрын
@@samisaac3908 the hybrid combines the capabilities of a PV inverter and a battery inverter. It can power the loads directly with solar.

The future is in off grid power on each house. The power company is ripping us off .
@drsolar2 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching and commenting. The power company has bonds to pay, so they get the funds from you.

Off grid power is useless and extremely wasteful. Even with having your own energy sources it makes sense to have a network between houses and energy sources. Expecting a company not to ask money for using an expensive network, both in creation and maintenance for free is odd to say the least.
@drsolar2 ай бұрын
@@mrniceguy6050 nobody said anything about free. Many of the equipment has been written down. In rural areas the government subsidizes the cost of bringing power.
