After Debrecen, in February MVK tested HUMDA's Solaris Urbino 12 Hydrogen bus. The bus is powered by hydrogen, which reacts with atmospheric oxygen to produce water vapour, and this chemical reaction releases energy to power the bus. Apart from the propulsion system, it's nothing special, just a solo bus.
In February, the bus reached most parts of Miskolc, and except for the lines starting from Újgyőri főtér, it has been on basically all the solo lines in the city. But the most exciting was definitely the weekend of 17-18 February. It made a few rounds on line 5 in the morning and on line 15 in the afternoon. Both days I was spotting on line 15 in the afternoon.
The line 15 in Miskolc is the most beautiful local line in Hungary, starting from Felső-Majláth, the terminus of tram line 1, it climbs the Szinva and then the Garadna valley for 15.3 kilometres. It passes through tourist destinations such as Felső-Hámor, Lillafüred, Őskohó, the trout farm, Garadna and finally arrives in the remote village of Ómassa. Officially, these are all parts of the city of Miskolc, which is why there is a local bus service here.
Although the landscape is obviously more beautiful in the summer with the green trees, this bus will still not be in a more beautiful place on its national journey :)
Of course, I also on the other, more urban lines. In the second part, there will be shots taken on lines 3A, 21, 24, 101B, and in the third part, on lines 11, 28, 35, 45, MIV.
