Looks very interesting, please can you add an update after a year to let us know how it is weathering and whether it has cracked or pealed. Also if anyone is copying this video, I wouldn't recommend walking on the roof beams like that. Best bet is put a long plank or ladder that crosses several beams and stand on that. Keep the plank near where the roof bolts to the wall and do as much as you can from ladders next to the roof rather than being actually on the roof.
@walverden14 жыл бұрын
Thank you Jonathan for your view and comment, I was told by someone in the trade that the beams can stand a lot of weight I did try putting a plank across the beams but it was always sliding and I felt unsafe. The paint was put on almost 7 months ago and so far they have been no cracks or peeling on my roof or my next doors roof.

Hi Dennis, I find your SolarX paint interesting to reflect the heat of the sun away from roof to make it cooler inside. I think here in San Mateo, CA we might have those at homedepot. I have to check. But when I go to Mexico to our ranch what I use is limestone powder (I buy at the local hardware store) called CAL mixed with water, to apply to the flat roof of our house there. It is amazing as it reflects away the heat of the sun so our house stays cool 24 hrs so one can sleep at night. I am recently finding out about solar paint which I dont think is available in Mexico, but it is available in San Mateo, California
@walverden14 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for your view and very good information about CAL that sounds great, however i still prefer Solar X paint,i have had no hot days or nights in our house since i used the paint.

What material is the roof made of? Polycarbonate multiwall? It looks like poly but I'm not certain. What color was the material when originally manufactured? I saw that it was an off-white before you put the SolarX pain on. I was just wondering if you had applied paint previously or if you purchased it that way?
@walverden15 жыл бұрын
Jeremy Thacker Hello Jeremy the roof is polycarbonate ,the colour was white when we first bought it.and we had not painted it before.The first roof you see was my neighbours which had not been painted with Solar X but the second roof had two coats before.The difference is truly great at keeping your conservative cool.Thank you for your view and comment.

Hi. When you first painted the polycarbonate panels, did you need to prime them first with anything ? Kind regards Carl
@walverden1 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question Carl, no primer is needed just clean off any dirt with a brush and wash with a hose and let it dry then paint the solar X you may need more than one coat.👍

Thanks for this, does it also reduce glare? or is it only good for heat reduction?
@walverden12 жыл бұрын
Hello Ethan this paint does reduce glare,but not to the extent to make it dark. then the heat is reduced by around 80 percent, we had a company to give us a price to cover the roof with special roof tiles the cost was quoted to me,wait for it" £14,000 . this paint only costs around £80. what a difference.

Dennis... will this work on the rendered walls of a stone build house? Have asked the roofer about means of cooling by way of extraction - is a decent fella, instead of trying to sell me an extraction system.. says main problem is that stone walls act like a storage heater.. I have a portable air-con unit in my bedroom (extracting externally).. but obviously it's loud.. which is also (but not as bad as heat) disruptive to sleeping. I am thinking rather than try and remove the accumulated/residual heat.. restrict the walls absorbing solar heat in the first place. Terraced house straight onto pavement... desperate for help!
@walverden14 жыл бұрын
Hello first thing i am no expert on this paint, i have read the web site of Solarx refective paint and it does say it is 70% affective on glass, polycarbonate glass fiber cladding and block work. So to tell you the truth on a wall i don,t know but for £60 a tin i think it might be worth a try.
@fiskrond92124 жыл бұрын
@@walverden1 i've just had a thought... if Sandtex (who have been around a loong time) ain't already doing it then it is most probable that those who claim to make 'solar-reflective' paint (for masonry) may be selling the emperor's new clothes...

Hi Dennis thanks for your video. I am thinking of using this paint on my conservatory, but was just wondering if you had to key the surface at all or did it just need washing? Also I couldn't tell how many coats you did was it just 1? My polycarbonate is clear, do you think it might need multiple coats? Thanks for any advice.
@walverden14 жыл бұрын
Thank you Charlie for your view and question. I cleared the roof from any moss,then washed it down. i waited about one hour for the roof to dry then i applied the first coat. i did put 3 coats of the paint on the polycarbonate roof of a few days.
