I woke up this morning, making coffee only to see the Mini's reviews on my subscriptions from multiple channels. And the first thought to my mind was, I hope Leon did a review. Someone who not only knows great tone, but how to play with it to show what this little amp can actually do. And you didn't let me down Leon. Nice video and review as always. 😁👍

Best demo so far on this one! The tones at 8:08 and after are killer! I heard the other mini heads were based on pedals, but Mike Soldano designed this mini from the ground up!

I had just seen Total Guitar and Guitar World announce this and was seriously considering it (I love Soldano). And then I saw your vid in my feed and thought if LT is reviewing this I have to check it out! Your vid totally sold me! I just ordered one from the Soldano site and can't wait for this little beast to arrive! P.S. I'd love for Marshall come out with a mini JTM-45...

Ah. Love it. Love that custom Duncan pickup. Very similar to the DiMarzio SD kinda. That yellow Ibanez is so cool. I remember when they came out I just about bought one, but ended up with a Gibson Les Paul Studio in white with an ebony fretboard. 🤘♥️🤘 It sounds great. I hear it also has cascading gain stages even though solid state, but still analogue which is fine with me. That said, your 50 watts Soldano is the AMP to me along with the ADA preamp. ♥️🤘. They just sing with glorious sustain. How can you not love that. ♥️♥️. That blues you were playing was killer friend. ♥️ To me that is the 80s sound. All that glorious gain. Love it. Great demo sir. ♥️🤘♥️

I imagine a jackson minion or an ibanez mikro plugged to a wall of mini stacks with mini friedman-bogner-diezel and soldano heads, all boosted with a mini tube screamer and a mini cry baby :)

These just look fun! I could see buying a few of these newer mini guys just to keep at the house. I'm still digging the much lower gain Toneking Imperial plugin for recording direct at home. First plugin I've ever jived with. Wish the new UAFX series would include some more options!

Jam 2 was really cool riff. Like really good, felt tingles. It was like a cool combination of Tool and 80's. Perfect for my taste. It's also great to go through backlog of videos, some good binging when you leave Leon unattended for some weeks.

Not even a minute in and I'm sold. Getting one! You really brought out the best in the little sucker. Love the Soldano tone, I can run it through my Mark IV combo's EVM-12L or a Hiwatt 4 x 12. Fun little amp! Wish these things were around in the 90s when I got my first amp as a teenager. Kicks the living crap out of the solid state Crate head that I owned.

Excellent demo! Thank you for using all six strings and both pickups. A whole video spent chugging away on the bottom three strings tells me very little about any given piece of gear. While I appreciate the energy in that style of playing, some of us want to hear how an amp performs when playing solos, especially in the guitar’s upper register. Thank you, Leon, for providing a variety of tones and styles.

This one seems to work a lot better than the Mini BE for me. Might not exactly sound like the bigger version but it sounded pretty good. I sometimes wonder though who these mini amps are for since there are synergy modules of the amps in question who really are close to the real deal.

A review on the Bogner that I saw showed Synergy components on the board if that means anything. The reviewer was quite impressed. I like the Bogner better than the Soldano.

Kind of an apples to oranges comparison between these and the snyergy modules. These micro amps are nice sounding plug and play practice amps. Where as the synergy modules are not, and require other gear to get going. Not to mention, the price difference is huge. If I were to guess, and I'm not a marketing major by any means. I think these amps exist to draw new guitarists/customers towards these brands, in hopes that years down the line they come back and buy one of their flagship tube amps. I mean case in point, I'm considering one of these because of how good they sound online, and maybe several years down the line buy a used slo 30 lol.

These are great sounding SS amps! Kinda remind me of the old 80's-90's Marshall Lead 12-15-25s, but with more balls! Ha! Great demo man!

@@LeonTodd G'day Leon! Lead 12 was one of my first amps also. My buddy had a grey tolex Lead 25 mini that was quite honestly one of the best sounding recording amps that I've ever played! I have much much love for the older Marshall solid state stuff. Mosfet 100 full stacks were killer back in the day! I wish Marshall would get back at reissuing some of that quality SS stuff instead commercially flop oddities like the..Uhem! the CODE series amps?! HaHa! I had a LEAD 15 mini full stack a few years ago I'd got from a huge estate sale for $120!!! Guy also had a gorgeous custom BC Rich Mockingbird for a crazy low price, but I couldn't spring for it. Those LEAD 15's had dual overdrive gain pots kinda like jumping plexi, but with more of a JCM800 amount of gain on tap. Also had a Mid "contour" pot between the Hi and Low instead of a typical 3 band, and a handy line out. Highly versatile for what it was, and that little head sounded massive on top a 4x12. Unfortunately at the time I was living quite the "nomadic" lifestyle back then aaaand my ex roomie pawned it!😩 I see them go now for $500-600 easy on Reverb. I fancy getting just another head some day, but ideally in one of their Ltd edition colors like Red or Purple! If you spot one? Snatch it up man. Haha! Cheers mate! Egads! 👆There I go rambling about gear again😅 How do I type all that!! Hahaha!

Forget that Soldano Toy !! I see not 1 not 2 but 3 ADA MP-1 s in the rack next to him !!! OMG, I see a Marshall JMP-1 as well !!!!! Those are KILLER preamps !!! Played throughout the 80s cover band with 2 Marshall's JMPs and Robin guitars !!! I loved playing Poison Covers through those preamps !! Ouch , I forgot what he was demoing LOL LOL LOL!!!

Hey Leon, sounds great. I was wondering, do you have a second mini amp in your collection? Ever thought about putting together a little stereo rig with these just to see what it would be like? I'd be very curious myself, if a simple stereo setup would actually be gig-able. I know 30 watts isnt much but would be an interesting experiment. thanks again for the vids, have a great day.

Sounds great! When you take a cable from the Send on the loop to a DAW do I need to still have a Cab plugged in or can I play thru headphones and record that way?

Doesn't sound like the big daddy and I wouldn't expect it to at this price point. LP pickups are made by Martin A Smith Pickups.

You better stop demoing all these sub-lunchbox amp heads, or so help me I will have to build a stack out of those things 10 amps tall! I agree with many that this one is the best souding of the bunch so far - it doesn't wreak of a pre-existing "amp in the box" pedal through a class D power amp. It actually stands on its own merit... what a hell of a time to be buying a practice amp. Long live solid state!

Does this amp need the speaker plugged in or can it be used as a pre-amp only? I imagine that because it's solid-state that it doesn't need a speaker plugged-in. Cheers

Slowly, I feel like your No1 stalker :). I also have a late 90´s HotRod50+ and I love this amp way more than the SLO of a friend of mine. Even he think´s that it sounds kinda better. Maybe because of the lower power or because it seems to be voiced rougher and not that "precious". Anyway... I just ordered a Mini SLO just because.... it´s there :D
