This demonstration shows the sequence of steps for assembling a small, 6-panel stained glass lampshade. You'll see how to tack, solder the inside and outside, and how to add a vase cap on top.

This is amazing can’t wait to try this pattern. do you know what kind of lamp base i should get for this? Is there a certain size to look for size.

I get all my bases from Goodwill. I'd get a lamp bulb clip, aka a bulb adapter, and a lamp base no taller than around 10 inches or so.

I use a brand made for stained glass called "Liva." It works really well. However, cheap car wax works, too! Turtle Wax!

Where did you find the top piece for attaching to the stand?

Look for "vase cap" on the web. They come in brass (alloy of copper and zinc). Try to find the closest measurement that covers the top "diameter" of the lampshade opening. It's a pentagon/hexagon, so just measure across from point to point. Better to be slightly larger than too small. Best of luck, and thank you for watching!

My 6 panel lamp shade has pulled apart when i was soldering it together at the seams pulling the foil away from glass. Can i reflux and solder? Will it stay?

Clean off the flux as best as you can, use a lot of tape to hold everything back together. Tack the panels back in place. You can push the glass back into the foil, but, you might try using foil to ‘tape’ it back together. Run the foil down the panel seams where the foil already is. Re-flux and re-solder. Hope that helps!
