Part 2 - • Copper Soldering - Pen...
For first, we need a good butane torch. It should be large. It is necessary to get enough heat. Because copper needs more heat than silver. Twice. And we have another problem: the copper loses heat very quickly.
So we have to heat the whole copper piece very much and very quickly.
Imagine that the copper wire is empty. And you have to fill it with fire. It will be your river of fire. When you fill it, the solder melts and joins the parts.
And it is still important that all parts touch each other very closely.
The next question is: what solder to use? I use two kinds of solder: solid solder and paste. The solid solder is very difficult to cut, but it does not contain silver and has a copper color after heating.

Wonderful tutorial! Please ALWAYS wear eye protection when cutting metal - else it can lodge in your eyes. So much to know about different metals. I love copper so glad to see this demo, many thanks!

First of all, I'm a big fun and I love all your creations! Very useful this tutorial. Thank you for sharing! I love working with copper, but I used only wire wrapping technique till now. I know to solder silver, but for copper is more difficult, indeed, due to the melting point, which is higher. Your tutorial encouraged me to try. Thank you again!

Thank you! Great video! I have some of that copper solder that I purchased from you on Etsy - and it is very hard to cut small pieces off, but I definitely prefer it to the paste.

Great tips, thank you.. May I offer a little bit of advice, the hottest part of the flame is the very tip of the blue flame, to close and you can loose heat, to far away and you have uncontrollable heat.....the tip is perfect...hope you don’t mind me saying this... Love your work xx

Can you melt small scraps of copper with a propane torch?
@mistydawn2717
@mistydawn2717 3 жыл бұрын
@@MD-lj9jg I have accidentally, while getting a small thin piece to hot. If u do it you will probably ruin charcoal block as well. I kept my block in a tin box so if I over heat it like this I put the lid on to snuff it out or it might burn up to catch fire when u think its out.

Great video thank you!! So the copper gets a rainbow color from the heat and the citric acid removes it? How much water do you put in the citric acid does it not matter? Appreciated :)

Maybe the butane torch Im using simply isn't producing enough heat but I've tried this method to melt some copper on the tips of a copper bracelet I made and it would not melt no matter how long I held it over the two metals. Do I need to get a solder paste too to bind it with the copper? Thanks for any info ya'll!
