Soldiers harass B'Tselem volunteers' family and confiscate hard disk

On 10 March 2015, soldiers entered the home of ‘Imad and Fayzeh Abu Shamsiyeh, B'Tselem camera volunteers in Hebron. The soldiers woke the children, photographed them, viewed footage the Shamsiyehs filmed of life in Hebron and of Israeli security forces, and confiscated a hard disk and a memory card with images. Photographing and recording, even of soldiers, are permitted in the West Bank. B'Tselem urges the military to immediately return the confiscated property with its contents intact, and refrain from harassing B’Tselem volunteers or hampering the work of photographers.

ב-10.3.15 נכנסו חיילים באישון לילה לבית עימאד ופאיזה אבו שמסיה, מתנדבי בצלם בחברון. החיילים העירו את ילדיהם, צילמו אותם, וצפו בחומרי וידיאו שצילמו בני הזוג המתעדים רגעים בחייהם בחברון והתנהלות של כוחות הביטחון בעיר. כשעזבו, לקחו איתם החיילים דיסק קשיח וכרטיס זכרון שהכילו תיעוד וידיאו. כניסה שרירותית זו של חיילים חמושים לבית פרטי בלילה ממחישה את הקלות שבה מופרת שגרת החיים של פלסטינים וזכויותיהם מפורות. בנוסף, צילום ותיעוד בגדה המערבית, ובכלל זה תיעוד התנהלותם של חיילים, מותרים. בצלם קורא לצבא להחזיר לאלתר את הרכוש שהוחרם, מבלי לפגוע במידע השמור עליו, ולהימנע מהטרדת מתנדבי הארגון ומהפרעה לעבודת צלמים בשטחים.

And there you have it... With an ad hoc framework, this is politely called "confiscation"... It is not... What I see is a blatant THEFT as the UN agreed principles on occupation, both in terms of duration and activities are unquestionably violated. The induction of insecurity to then prescribe the requirement for security is so Hegelian that even mob bosses would be proud... Yet, based on UN agreements issues regarding occupation: Agreements concluded between the occupying power and the local authorities cannot deprive the population of occupied territory of the protection afforded by international humanitarian law (GC IV, art. 47) and protected persons themselves can in no circumstances renounce their rights (GC IV, art. 8).

An attempt to institute the old philosophical conundrum of "if a tree falls in a forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?" In the above case, if I degrade the value of your life, dehumanizing you for my benefit, and there are no videos of my acts, am I really a violator. Sounds very much like the strategy of abusers of children in homes. Such thinking is always a sign of bad/atrocious government... A government that would always be against those it leads... Maybe you are more inclined to be happy having a self imposed authority barging through your door whenever they feel like it... And not feel humiliated and subjugated in front those you intend to raise as responsible and productive adults. Maybe you will be comfortable having your children unnecessarily woken up, lined up and intimidated by said authority... Party to some kind of psychological interplay with dominance that seeks to communicate deeper aspects of that interplay that seek to enhance and ensure continued subjugation and disposession. It communicates exactly what the Jews felt in Germany under the National Socialists. If I would not have tolerated that being done to any person ofJewish descent in the 1930s, and we know exactly what direction that was headed in, and I feel sickened to my stomach by that history, why would I accept Zionists carrying out exactly the same initialising strategies for dispossession as the national socialists... @JAPANESE CULTURE, ART and PHOTOS at what, or from which/what point, should we define innocence, or the lack of, to help your question carry the true weight of an inherent argument?.. What prism should we look through?.. Are we allowed to look through the prism of, for example, a "fatricide", that sees both peoples as semitic and takes in to consideration factors such as the past conversions from Judaism, and the intermarriage of the ancestors of present day Muslims and therefore puts light on the right of inheritance? Because, to me at least, unlike chicken, these people(s) did not begin their histories on a supermarket shelf. I do think it is easy to speak in vaguing terms of a collective, to "mask to obliteration" and give legitimacy to the "underpinning intentions" of precise acts, which in reality are indeed the stable projections "from" the narrative (the results of the acts, that is, tell more about the truth of the story). We only have to look at the map in lieu of a timeline that runs in line with the Zionist-Palestinian interraction (Arabs are not a single type, neither are Jews. And indeed there are Zionists and then Zionist-extremist) - unless you would like to lead me to believe that what one sees was incidental, it is clear what fractions have been winning, if one can call it that, through premeditation (Christians Zionists extremists included, so Zionism is no just about race) and which one has been loosing.
