They figured us out we’re done with the 90s is a joke now we get to react to a full compilation of why the 80s and 90s basketball is if good or not better than the 2000 basketball and its own right in perspective

Maybe I just haven’t played in a while but I think that the reason why the NBA is so hard to watch is because it’s nothing like the game we play ourselves. Go to any park or Rec Center and we aren’t calling fouls because we would get laughed off the court. We are hand checked a bit and bumping. That isn’t the game we are watching on TV or streaming.

This is a very good point.

I love how he just glosses over the rule changes like they aren't the entire reason the game is different.... All these "skills" would have been called a travels and carrying. That automatically makes any talk about dribbling skills a mute point. I would have love to see someone try to shoot 10 3s a game while having an arm in their chest the entire game. Let's see how efficient they would be. Edit: i also have to mention that three point efficiency really hasn't changed league wide since 1987

I’m glad he at least addressed them. I mean, of course your “bag” is bigger when you are allowed to do stuff that are literally against the rules. There is a video called something like “Evolution of the rules of basketball.” I try and recommend it to some of the younger hoop reactors because it gives a more detailed breakdown from every decade. I agree he definitely glosses over the fact that these guys take extra steps, move pivot feet, gather step, step back and he respone is…”Oh well, the guys today do a good job of taking advantage of the rules changes. Also, todays players are better jump shooters but you also have to factor in things like how many more wide open looks are created because of spacing. You might argue that better spacing is available because of the better shooter and while I think that an argument can be made for whether or not a big shooting 30% from three is that much better of a basketball option than say one that would have shot 15-20%. These gather steps, crab dribbles and step backs all create space to shoot a more open shot. Also, anyone who has played knows that if you are worried about getting hacked or a guy stepping under you on a jump shot will affect your shot. This used to be allowed. I feel like this is a good example, if 4 people lined up for a 400 meter hurdle race and one person was allowed to run between or not even have hurdles they would obviously win. They are playing by different rules. In the late 90’s early 2000’s AND-1 was a thing. Guys were doing some of the same stuff guys are today because they were playing by looser rules. One more thing, you can go back and watch any Shaqtin a Fool and watch todays guys taking all kind of steps and moving screens.

@michaelwhite8119 Is funny how they keep claiming that three point shooting has gotten so much better, but the percentages have barely changed since 1987 league wide. They practice it more with more spacing yet shoot the same percentage. Seems to me they're actually worse at 3 point shooting. Hell, the most accurate 3-point shooter of all time does not play now. He's from the 90s.

It also depends on what a fan thinks is considered “good” or is impressed by. For instance they show “White Chocolate” and he was playing crazy and turning heads in the late 90’s and early 00’s but Sacramento didn’t become a title threat until Bibby took over the offense. “Lamer bag” Bibby was actually a more meaningful player??

You know what the most obnoxious thing is about the "Jordan had no left" BS? Judge Judy(Yes I watched JJ. No i'm not ancient. I'm 34) always liked to say that young people think anyone over the age of 25 are morons. As the video pointed out MJ was drafted nearly 40 years ago. He retired 21 years ago. His career spans 1, 251 total games(reg and playoffs) encompassing thousands upon thousands of hours of footage. In 4 decades we've had hundreds of coaches, fans, analysts, statisticians and players comb over this footage. Both paid as a part of companies who study sports science and data as well as for free just as fans who love the sport. And you want us to believe that a bunch of tiktokers pushing a hashtag designed to discredit an entire decade and earlier discovered some new piece of info "they" didn't want you to know? Really? All those people went through all that data and somehow missed such a massive glaring weakness? GTFOH.

Hold on. Don't get me wrong. They fumbled the ball in today's game LeBron done done it a couple of times. So showing them fumbling the ball don't mean nothing. They do it in every era every era

Truth be told. If you threw lebron or even the beloved stef curry into an 80’s game with 80’s rules. I highly doubt they would be makind as many points. And they would easily foul out early in the game. Which means changing the rules to a different time period messes with the numbers a player would normally get.

Do you think in Tennis the nr.1 from 1970 has a chance against todays nr.1? Of course not. Same in soccer, football and any other sports! If you want to compare, you have to let them grow up at the same time and going threw high school and college. If you go in with Larry's work ethic and a heart of a lion together with his 18:30 skills?! I'd like to see him today.❤ All things aside, these Legends dominated there era, that's all that matters!

I'd like to see todays player missing 10 games in 6 years?! Playing every night with heart as best you can to get the W! They would have a heart attack running the court for 40 minutes, doing everything at a high level. And defense rules have changed .❤

Players flipping for a foul, travels not called, you can't touch a player or it's a foul ... what are we talking about. Today's players are obviously more skilled because they have material to watch and learn. Today's medicine and physical preparation are leagues ahead... put everyone on the same level and we can talk, but we can't cause the game has changed, rules have changed ... to me, it's nonsense to make this comparison.

Personally if you give today's league the ability to play defense like the 80s and 90s I believe that they would be equal if not a bit better due to how more athletic most players are but if you were to give 80s and 90s players the offense of today's game I believe they would be better then today's league because of the offensive Freedom they would now have but that's my opinion.

I mostly agree but also, look what happens when the modern NBA player goes and plays in FIBA. Yes the officials there are insanely inconsistent but the US players get constantly called for traveling and complain about the bumping and contract. It’s not easy to change habits.

The debate is started when Lebronze claim that he is the G.O.A.T I remember back in2000 watching Kobe play he reminded of MJ and when Bron win his first ring that started that debate remember Lebron was Drouth 8 years and in his 7 years his outplayed by Old Dirk 2011 season.

I'm going to have to stop you right there. You telling me from the '80s and '90s I got Isaiah Thomas. I got Michael Jordan. I got Scottie pippen. I got Shawn Kemp and I got Hakeem olajuwine you telling me that them five people wouldn't beat the people that's in the league now? And I got so many other groups that I can get together that would beat the people in the league. Now I got Clyde drexler, Gary Payton, Charles Barkley, Dennis rodman and Shaquille O'Neal. You telling me that team wouldn't beat nobody in this era. They would decimate them. I got Jason Kidd John Stockton, Karl Malone, Tim Duncan and David Robinson you telling me that they wouldn't win. I got plenty of more teams I can put together from the '80s and '90s that would decimate the teams of today. Totally decimate them. We should talk. I'll give you more starting fives In their prime just like these young guys are today. All of the players that I called in their prime because we don't want to say in their young days as rookies because that would put Michael Jordan eons above everybody from 84 to 89. We're not even going to count those because no one could handle him. No one. No. No no nobody nobody

Here's a 20 minute video of trying to convince us older guys that today is more skilled and athletic, but it was a 20 minute video comparing 1 SIDE OF THE GAME!!!! This generation plays ZERO defense so how are they better when they on play half of the game

They literally forgot half the game exists. I grew up watching 2000s basketball that's how young I am, and I can't stand these soft ass rules

@@whenisdinner2137 I grew up the same way but I might be a little bit older than you though. All I know is that in the park runs in Los Angeles when I was still living there (until I moved to Oklahoma after I graduated in 1995) the rules were very simple "No Blood No Foul" (unless it was a blatant and extremely tough hack and slapping sound with the hand print that goes with it) and we kept it moving!! I can't stand the "Charmin Pillow Soft" way the game is played these days!!! Bro I haven't been able to sit through a half of a basketball game now much less a full game!!! The constant crying throughout the game (especially by LeFlop James) just kills the rest of the game and I just don't see the point in sitting through a 60 minute "Charmin Pillow Soft" 3 point contest with little to no defense being played until around the final 4 minutes of actual game time in the 4th quarter

@curtayars7344 What makes it worse is that people keep claiming that "offense increases viewership". Meanwhile in reality viewership has never been lower than it currently is since the fucking 70s. The NBA finals are losing to a semi finals in women's college basketball. I genuinely think adam silver just hates defense and doesn't care about the money.

@@whenisdinner2137 viewership is at the lowest it's ever been in his except for maybe the actual inception of basketball in the 1940's!!! It's amazing to me that this generation lives in a land far far away in their delusional and diluted brains

It's called rage bait. The maker of the video wants more eyes on him so he says something outrageous because he knows the 90s fans will defend their favorite era. Look at all of the star power and talent on The Dream Team. Even if there are infinite universes and dimensions the current crybaby soft NBA never defeats The Dream Team in any of them.
