013 - Solids and Liquids
In this video Paul Andersen compares and contrasts the properties of solids and liquids. Solids have a more organized structure which can either be amorphous or crystalline. In liquids the intermolecular forces are lower and so the molecules can show translation. Some of the properties that can be observed in liquids are viscosity, surface pressure and volumes of mixing.

Is VISCOSITY a kind of InDensification(a making more DENSE or COMPACT) of a Solution?

Viscosity is just the resistance of flow at a given temperature. For example, a lower temperature will increase viscosity because the molecules will have less kinetic energy and flow at a lower rate.

at 5:00 why do you write water has H20 and not H2O. The symbol for oxygen is O, not 0.

Is glass a solid or liquid?
@hidude1354
@hidude1354 6 жыл бұрын
It depends on the environment; that's like asking if water is liquid or solid. When someone asks a question like that, we generally think of room temperature. So technically, it's solid.

everything can be in a solid, liquid or gas state. it depends on factors like temperature for example. so when you ask if glass is a solid or liquid, it's liquid at very high temperatures and solid at low temperatures like room temperature. if glass was liquid at room temperature you wouldn't have windows for example. :D

It's an amorphous solid. Not liquid, the whole "antique windows are thicker at the bottom" is a myth.

Gosh I just love how college professors get to "teach" by making students (that pay a LOT of money for classes) watch KZfaq videos of other people teaching concepts. The American Education System is a joke.
