018 - Intermolecular Forces
In this video Paul Andersen explains how intermolecular forces differ from intramolecular forces. He then explains how differences in these forces account for different properties in solid, liquids and gases. Some of these properties include the boiling point, melting point, surface tension, capillary action and miscibility. Intermolecular forces between gas molecules creates variation from ideal gas law.

A molecule in definition means a combination of atoms that are covalently bonded, so it depends what the molecule is. For example, a methane molecule (CH4 - One carbon that shares its valence electrons with four hydrodens)

can somebody tell me why CH bond is considered nonpolar when the difference in electronegativity is larger than .3?
@reneehaugen3042

It's never just one C-H. It's usually CH3 or C-C-C with the H's around the outside of the C's and the electrons are distributed among all of the C's and H's. If you ever had a single C-H bond in an asymmetrical molecule, it might be polar, but it never happens that way.
