Me and my friends from uni have this tradition where every spring and autumn we come to the woods, set a camp and enjoy the outside with a bit of survival thrown in. These days were always a highpoint in my, admittedly, not so fun life. This spring, for obvious reasons, we couldn't do the usual thing, and I've felt genuinely down because of that. And yet, here I am, watching your video, with a big stupid grin on my face. You're probably not going to read this, but you've just made one man a lot happier. Thank you.

Its not as hard as you think. If you break it down and accept the truth, which is the fact you either build a shelter or die, its actually quite easy to build one. Its amazing how much energy the threat of impending death can grant an individual. That's not to belittle the guys work of course. More to say that if you find making a shelter hard, you've never had the threat of death to spur you on. Add the threat of death and a man will be sleeping in a shelter in no time.

What I like about you Joe, and why I have subscribed to your channel, is that you always post deliberate and truthful videos, and are not 'stuck in your ego'. You remain "unmasked". That is a very rare quality of purposeful character, especially with the type of videos you are posting. You come straight from the Heart, and I thank you for it.. I looked up your channel after being recommended to it by Shawn James (Another great YT teacher IMNSHO). What I like best about you, Joe, is that you aren't trying to "act like" anything, and you too also, like Shawn, are a natural teacher. I learn something else good and important from every one of your videos I watch. Thank you for the high-quality material you post on your channel, and Thank you for being yourself :-). :-) also glad the eye is OK :-). Thank you for sharing your experiences and knowledge with us.

I was raised in the back woods of Mississippi and I grew up preparing for "Y2K" LOL. But now as a adult, I realize that every thing that I learned coming up is very important for the time and place where we live. These are a knowledge that's dying with us older folk. We can survive any hurricane, ice/snow storm and coved 19. These ways of living on the land need to be past to our youngens. For our fathers deserve to be remembered for there knowledge they past down to us with out us realizing the true and fond memories they bring. Keep these videos coming brother!!
