Yeah, I used to get nervous but since I've had the Mavic I don't worry much anymore. Those drones are quite reliable.

GREAT JOB! You're filming skills were good but your attitude was even better which is what really makes a video enjoyable for me. I was able to watch the entire thing which is kind of rare for me.... all the time with a smile on my face knowing how much fun you were having Out There. How bad are the mosquitoes and no-see-um’s (nats) on the island around the mangroves?

During warm days it gets insane won't lie. I just came back from camping there again and the mangrove areas have eroded and the camping sites are gone. The only spots available now are the north side and the beach itself.

Great video Eric. Anclote River Park where I launch my boat. Been to the island a few times. Love the beach scenes. Did you have to pay and get a permit to camp there? My next adventure is camping with my family there

Hello there Justice and thank you for watching my video. No there is no need for a permit, you only pay for the parking which is 5 dollars for 24 hours and you can leave the car overnight. It is customary to call the ranger and let him know that you'll be spending the night at (727) 638-4447 just in case there is an emergency. There is a camping site near the Tiki hut that is well covered by trees on the northern side but can be riddled with bug during this hot season. I recommend camping in the northwestern tip of the island since it is mostly sand and there is far less bugs there. I enjoy camping there during the winter time.

@SeanStone - Plan ahead with weather wind and tide - it's definately doable however it's a bitch if any 1 of those three get the better of you going out or heading back. @ the weekend there can also be significant boat / jetski traffic at certain points depending on your route. Also note the camping area is primarily at the North end of the island so if you launch from Fred Howard Park that's another 4 mile each way onto your journey. There are limited to no resources on the island so you will need to bring everything you need and a trash bag with you. Happy / safe paddling / camping ! PS It's an awesome location and fishing is good on inside flats and north channel near camping area. Also see Florida Explorers thread below.

@@topedaman I sold the Kaboat, I was going to Anclote Key often and dealing with swells and waves was a hassle. Once I got the SD380 dinghy I was able to tackle swells with ease. I got flipped upside down on the kaboat once and that made me sell it.

The Kaboat has its uses like river runs and maybe lakes but not in the ocean in my opinion

I'm going to be camping here for the first time within the next two weeks, and I have a question: do you know if there are lots of other campers on weekends or would a weekday be better if you want to really get away?

The only time you will see campers is during holidays. Any other day you'll most likely be alone.

BRO ... stop hi hi hi and ha ha ha ... and you are still far away from great work. Show video, not your face. Don't zoom in and out or pan left right in high speed motion. Shoot your takes slow and steady. Stop talking about what you're gonna do - do it. and keep only the best shots! Just some free advice.

Compare the drone with your camera shots - try to do what the drone does, just on the ground - be steady and pick motives! You are such a rookie, it's unbelievable.

Well, I never claimed to be a professional. I do this for fun, entertainment, and some what educational. A lot of folks have visited this island and others in FL because of my videos. I interact with most of them, and have been lucky enough to meet some of them in person.
