Join me on a canoe camp to a small island located on a local river. Once we paddle to the island we setup a tarp shelter and cook some food over an open fire, have a couple beers and relax! Hope you enjoy my first canoe trip on camera! Let me know in the comments below if you would like to see more trips like this in the future.

One of the many things I love about your videos, their not constant ads popping up.
@GoingSoloOutdoors
@GoingSoloOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Glad you noticed 👍. I have never turned on the ad that will play in the middle of the video. I always felt they were kinda annoying. It would provide extra revenue to the channel and I’ve considered it to help cover the costs of these trips but money was never the goal of these videos so I’ve yet to turn it on. I just want people to enjoy the video and hopefully it inspires them to get outside themselves.

@@GoingSoloOutdoors you are truly one of a kind and I wish you had more subscribers. So many KZfaqrs are all about the money and ads pop up every few minutes and yes, its extremely annoying. Thank you for letting the viewers enjoy the camp without the annoyance.

Great wee film. If you look after your Ally it will last 20 plus years, and what's amazing about them is that you can replace all the parts, even the skin. Perhaps a proper canoe tripping adventure in the Rogen Nature Reserve in Sweden would be a good place to start for a Scandinavian expo. You'll need to strap a yoke to your Ally as the portages there require shoulder carries - easy to do.
@GoingSoloOutdoors

Thanks! I’ve really enjoyed the Ally canoe 👍. Being able to replace any of the individual components is fantastic. Nice to have that piece of mind if anything gets damaged it can be replaced without having to get another boat. I would love to one day do some trips in Sweden but while my kids are young most of my trips are here in the UK. Really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment! ATB

Excellent. My husband and I have 3 open canoes, 2 for solo use (1 each) and one we use tandem. I love canoe camping and have done the River Wye from Glasbury down to Chepstow, and the Caledonian Canal - both over 5 days - , as well as shorter local trips.

Just curious, since it was summer and you really did not need a fire for warmth, WHY NOT JUST MOVE YOUR SHELTER COMPLETELY AWAY FROM YOUR FIRE AND COOKING AREA. Good video. 👍🏻
@GoingSoloOutdoors
@GoingSoloOutdoors Жыл бұрын
In the summer I mainly still like to have a fire for cooking and keeping the mosquitoes and flies away. I also just really like to hangout and sit by the fire at night 😀. The island I was camping on was extremely small so I really didn’t have many options. Where I put up my shelter was really the only flat-ish clear spot I could pitch on the entire island. Really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment.

I enjoy cooking outside! As for finding the camping spot. I am constantly pulling up google satellite images or topo maps to pick locations I’d like to explore or see what my surroundings look like from above. Noticed the river split while out paddling with my kids and a quick check on google showed it was an island. So naturally I had to paddle around it to see if I could get on the island 😂. Always looking for places to camp where I won’t be have to see anyone else! Thanks for watching! Have a great weekend!

That was great. I think you may be only the 3rd person I've seen use the fire steel like that. Totally makes sense to direct the spark to the tinder. Love the new boat. It carries a lot of cargo which is nice. Maybe 3 beers next time. 👍🙂🛶🍺
@GoingSoloOutdoors
@GoingSoloOutdoors Жыл бұрын
I may have had a 3rd off camera 😂🤫. Really loving the new boat and the carrying capacity is really great! As for the fire steel, I will usually use this method if I have a small amount of tinder as it’s much easier to direct the sparks and not risk knocking everything around. If I have a larger target of tinder or plenty of room I will just throw sparks the more common way! Both work just depends on my mood I suppose. Thanks for watching Brian. Have a great weekend man!
