Solo canoe trip down the Bois Brule River 2023, Stone's Bridge to Lake Superior.

The famed "River of Presidents" and a Class 1 trout stream, the Bois Brule is an ideal paddle along a crystal clear river through the Brule River State Forest. The river is mostly spring fed, assuring that the water levels are consistent throughout the season. The northern half of this river, above US 2, offers more rapids suitable for confident paddlers, but much of the rest of the river is gentle and perfect for beginners. Landings are clearly marked and nicely maintained. So join me if you will for a relaxing paddle down the crystal clear waters of the Bois Brule River.

What is the shuttle system you are talking about? I see the motorcycle getting used, but if the canoe is going downstream, how does the rider get back to it?

I’m a new subscriber totally digging your style. Your videos are refreshing. That was also a very graceful descent. You make such small, gentle corrections in the swifts. You seem to just move with the boat and keep it out of trouble. You don’t horse your way through. Is that a royalex canoe? It’s quite a narrow beam isn’t it?

Thank you, I've been at it a long time so I guess that by this time the moves just come naturally without the need to think. It is a royalex Wenonah Argosy, it's a shorter boat with a wide beam for good maneuverability in the rapids. I bought it used a few years ago.

On the lower river from HWY two to the lake, With current flows 150 CFS to 300CFS is it still safe to float in the spring?

It should be, I did portage around the ledges.

It’s fairly long and not too easy, but I wasn’t planning on running the rougher sections. No problem.

well done! thanks for taking us along for the ride. Curious, never did get a good look at your ride. Canoe brand and model? would like to know. it seems very stable and responsive.

Thank you, glad you joined me. It’s a Wenonah Argosy, short and wide for easy maneuverability.

It was a fun trip. I like the Argosy, I got it specifically for doing these solo river trips and it works very well for that. I had to buy it used so I could get it in royalex.
