I was chair bound many years ago but because of alot of attitude and self determination I got out of the chair by luck and haven't been back since but with age I run a higher chance of going back so when I am talking with someone like yourself I never show the p word but I give huge respect because of personal experience, so dam proud of you and anytime if ur near my way and you anything done work wise I will best I can to help out and yup even if you want to park the van and do a lil tour around by all means stay for a while and yes I even still have my chair ramp so up golden for house usage ! Amazing lady love your videos thanks for sharing them !

i bought my van after i saw your tour on another channel. i’d been in love with the idea of the lifestyle ever since i saw a documentary about vw buses over a decade ago. but things were different then and i figured it was impossible for a quad so i gave up on the idea. then i found your video and your life made me realize that with current technology, i could live my dream. now sugar (my van) is at a shop getting her mods added. the build comes next. i guess what i’m trying to say is thank you lisa. ❤

@Keepinitwheel306 Yes, as a very active wheelchair user myself who wants to get into vanlife, I would love to see content regarding your van build from an accessibility standpoint. Also, how you manage day to day tasks while on the road, Accessible locations, and, of course, more of your adventures like the awesome mountain biking you did in this video. Thanks again for the great content. 🙂

This video is a good illustration for folks who don't use wheelchairs/mobility aids (because not all disabled ppl do, either) which bits of inaccessible infrastructure we're taking for granted. I was pretty upset that CA relatively recently redid a trail in a redwood area and it's not wheelchair accessible...It was constructed 30 years post-ADA. Even when abled people are putting things in place for accessibility, it's usually for school or work and only the laborious parts - not the parts for having fun! Disabled people deserve fun and silliness and joy too! Hair-raising turn around on that trail. I'm glad you got through it. And that someone turned up to help on the suspension bridge. Also glad you got some time doing the exploration you enjoy.

I am a bilateral a/k b/k amputee for 10 years now (Boston marathon bombings)……..I was walking in prosthetic legs pretty regularly for the first 5 years. For a variety of reasons I have been more in a wheelchair these last 5. So much of what you said really resonated with me, like exactly how I have been feeling. Thank you for putting yourself out there and creating this content helping others not feel quite so alone in whatever obstacles they have to face, live with ,and hopefully…..ultimately ….accept in there own lives.❤

Wow, I've just finished watching the video, you're really cool, how brave you are. I would have a heart attack from fear. Maybe I'd get myself a little drone to see how it goes on in front of me. A good idea would be if you could enter your routes for wheelchair users in an app, e.g. Wheelmap app. Then other wheelchair users could use it as a guide. Are you not afraid of bears? What do you do then?
@Keepinitwheel306
@Keepinitwheel306 18 күн бұрын
I would love a drone but the one I’m eyeing is so pricey. So, I actually do work assessing trails in the summer and all of the info is uploaded and available for public viewing. I wish every single trail could have this done. I encountered a bear on my very first mountain bike ride. Luckily my friend and I were equipped with a whistle and bear spray but making noise scared the bear off. I always carry those in bear country.

You mentioned that you take your mobile phone with you encase of emergencies as well as a Garmin, encase the phone doesn't have any service. Well I'm wondering if the Garmin also uses mobile phone towers to transmit, because if it does then that plan isn't going to work very well. I'm a computer programmer and the most important thing to know about technology is it goes wrong all the time. Satellite phones are expensive. Is there any reason why you can't take some distress flares with you as well as the other stuff? Distress flares are low tech enough to always function. But you might need to fire off a few before someone calls 911 (or 112 if you want to be more international). Most people might see it and say "that looks strange" without actually doing anything, but at some point someone would have the intelligence to dial 911 or 112. Just don't start a forest fire with your distress flares.

The Garmin uses satellite communication so, yes, it is a decent plan.
