[timestamps below] This video is part of the Sailing SV Pardon My French's Raw Sailing Series. It is made with minimal editing, features no music, and some of the segments are long by design- all to give a more realistic feel for being on the water. I've tried something new by including a Point of View track starting at the 23-minute mark; it's shot with a head-mounted GoPro (glad no one could see me:)) so there's a lot of movement. A chesty may be a better choice next time to avoid jarring movements. I am interested in your feedback to improve the video quality and entertainment value. I hope that you enjoy them as much as I like to share them.
Here's a bit of background on this sail. We spent an overnight at anchor rafted up to great friends on Moonstone and Luna in Bainbridge Island across from Seattle, and woke up to the sound of porpoises swimming nearby. After breakfast, I had to cross the sound to be back on time for Halloween and trick and treating with everyone. For late October, the conditions were perfect: 45 degrees, winds to the North 12-19 knots under blue skies. I couldn't wait to catch those small whitecaps forming against the tide outside the bay. The sail was close-hauled most of the way, except for rounding astern of two tugs and large barges. The boat speed was 7 to 8 knots SOG with approximate trimming. Ideal conditions even if I didn't find any goblins in the water.
