Many comments here say she's so brave because Nairobi is supposed to be so dangerous. Ah come on. Nairobi during the day is nearly everywhere safe, because most Kenyans will jump in and help you when there's a problem, they dislike crooks just like we all do. And even at night there are askari's (private guards) everywhere. I regularly made 30 or 60 minute walks alone at 3 a.m. in the night through various parts of Nairobi, talked to every vague person I came accross and to all the askari's, it was always cool. I admit I'm a big (white) guy, not a girl, but still....

Coco, They say when you go to Rome do as the Roman's do! Coco if you look around nobody dressed like you. You were creating unnecessary attention because of how you dressed. Those guys were kind otherwise they could have striped you naked. You can do T.shirts when you go such places to avoid harassment! The other thing Coco,I know you'll hate me by saying this, but whenever you go to someone's home, especially up country, just look around and see how everyone's dressed. You see when Dee is home, she never wears those clothes she puts on when Vloging. She couldn't even go with those " city clothes" in the village when she was in the Philippines! I know they can't tell you this, but we respect our elders! We respect our fathers and people in the village! They " looked okay " but I can assure you they weren't! I live in the States, but I can't walk like that in the village! I have to dress decent! You need to google and see how Kenyans stripe people naked for dressing like you,,,!nway, I love your content. Just positive criticism with love! Keep winning

Excellent advice! Women dress more modestly in conservative countries, and clearly a foreign white woman walking through a crowded market showing skin when it is not common among local people, will attract both wanted and unwanted attention. It is important to observe how the local people dress, and women in many countries simply do not show skin or dress in what might be perceived by people in a conservative country, as provcative. There is no need to exagerrate and have to conver from head to toe as some people in religious groups do. That is not needed. But it is important to understand how some things might be perceived or to ask the hosts---"is this ok to wear in this community"? Dee, could have had some good suggestions, one might think. Of course in an ideal world, she should be free to dress as she pleases, but the world is not ideal and safety is important.

There are too many misconceptions about Nairobi. As someone who has lived in Nairobi for almost 10years now, I would say that it is very very rare for someone to snatch your phone or camera when you using it in public. However, don't go to those dark corridors where there no people. The highest instances of phone snatching happens when you are in a bus through the window. Someone knows that by the time you alight from the bus, they would be gone already. I lost 3 phones in this style. To avoid this, don't sit in the front seats or if you do, keep your phone, don't use it all along. 2. If you are sitted next to the window, make sure it is tightly closed.

Why do foreigners get offended when they are called "Mzungu"? There are Kenyans and Tanzanians called Mzungu and Kazungu. Mzungu comes from the swahili word Zunguka. Kuzunguka is to move around or travel as explorers used to do when they first came to East Africa. In that context, Mzungu is like a traveller and was a way of describing strangers for easier identification. Strangers who are Africans will be described using height, complexion, size. But for none Africans who are not Indians or Chinese, Mzungu is much easier because they consider you to have travelled to reach the local area.
