After 5 days in the mountains, on a Solo Survival mission, I ran out of food and water. Fishing for food became the last option and after several Trout Catch & Cooks, I had to escape the mountains due to bad weather rolling in. This is part 3 of a 3-Part series.
Part 1: • 5 DAY SOLO Backpacking...
Part 2: • HIGH ALTITUDE Mountain...

Just a heads up. I’ve noticed your sawyer squeeze water filter had been pretty tough to squeeze water through. Which is great because it means the filter is working as intended! But after build up of contaminants/dirt the flow rate slows down and it requires a lot of force to filter water. This is the best time to use the syringe and back flush the filter to try and prevent the bag from failing. Also, you can just carry and plastic water bottle, screw the filter right on top and drink right from the filter. Fish on baby!
@NWFishingSecrets
@NWFishingSecrets 2 жыл бұрын
Good and true observation! I’ve gotten a good amount of mileage out of that little sawyer. Will see what a good back flush can do! Thanks!
@rob_6292
@rob_6292 Жыл бұрын
you can get a coupling that mates on your water bottle so you can just backflush that way. saves you from carrying the syringe.

Love the channel!!! As far as your water system 2 things. The sawyer fits on the end of a smart water bottle and you can drink right from It. Also check out the cnoc outdoors 2 liter water container. Also compatible with the sawyer and way more durable and easier to fill. Keep up all the great content and stay safe!!! Happy trails!

You are dialing in the adventure element--this is what makes a great survival catch and cook. The idea of testing your limits, putting yourself out there facing energy drain and hunger--audiences really enjoy seeing our hero beat the odds and live off the land. Now the next test is a 48 or 72 hour survival challenge. No food items just butter and spices! Love your work, brother! LIKED! 😀

When I was younger living in Seattle I dedicated one whole summer to be up in those mountains as much as possible. My rent was 99$ a month and I washed dishes at a restaurant for 3 days and then would spend the other 4 up in the cascades. Head out after work get back just before work! One of the best moments in my life. I love those alpine lake areas. Total fairy land! These videos definitely inspire me to get out there some more! A decent technique if you’ve never tried it, is to use a couple feet of tippet, and then tie on a fly that hangs back from your spinner. The spinner kind of gets the trouts attention, and then they see the fly a couple feet back and take it. You should give it a go!
