Wait, I thought a rocket stove was designed to feed from the base and all of the heat and smoke be directed out of the stack. It seems you'll be sucking the air out of your hut and all the heat will be going outside. What am I missing? Did you build it differently then I'm assuming?

@@TheTunnellTake 2 fires. one in. one out. with different intensities. also the rocket stove would be drawing the heat from the other outside fire. and even if the rocket stove were sucking heat, it would also be generating it.

Yeah it would be generating it but wouldnt it be going out of the stack? And if its designed to pull heat in from the outside fire wont it pull smoke too? I'm not understanding this.

Shawn I gotta tell you, you're the only KZfaqr that I actually tune in for. I'll watch others randomly, but Sunday afternoons are for Corporals Corner. It's the only time that I log in specifically to watch a new video that has just been uploaded by any KZfaqr. Outstanding. You triggered a memory. At 8 I did a shelter using a wood frame of large sticks. Then found old bricks to build a stove. Found coal on the rail road tracks . Covered the shelter with an old tarp. Lite the stove. Very warm . Thank you for triggering that memory. It felt great.🙏

Well....gotta say.....it's day 2 after my spinal surgery ....... misery is the brutal pain and mind numbing meds! BUT.....there is NOTHING better for healing and keeping my mood elevated than watching a brand new Corporal's Corner video! Damn near ripped my stitches when the notification pinged on my iPhone, iPad, and laptop that a new video was up and ready to be viewed!! I am hoping that come spring I will be able to attempt a shelter build near, but out of sight from my home! A place where I (and my hubby) can go if and when poop hits the fan! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for making my day way brighter! All the best!

My favorite videos are actually the ones that you build a shelter and then come back 2 or 3 times to make improvements. This is reality. Most of the time that a survival shelter is needed it's for more than 1 overnight. I keep hoping you will do a multiday build dug into an embankment for more than 1 person. That also includes an inside fire. More of a long term survival type shelter. I have a build to do with my kids this spring and keep looking for ideas from you to incorporate in our mountainside shelter! Thanks to your perfect knot lessons I put a greenhouse up yesterday that didnt fall over during the night! 😁

Nice job as usual, but let me make a suggestion for your hobo lunch; Next time try Cajun style Andouille sausage, potatoes, and a few jumbo shrimp. Add some garlic, butter, and a strip of bacon. I usually make the whole packet before heading out or even the night before. I've also added corn on the cob broken in half or thirds. Enjoy!

Outstanding instructor. I'm 62 y/o and have been an outdoorsman/woodsman most of my life. When I go out for short adventures it's to keep my skills sharp or experiment with new skills. Your channel offers simple instructions that a beginner can follow and that is why I recommend it to young campers, canoers, hunters, hikers or anyone that spends time in the backwoods. Keep up the good work, the skills you teach could be life saving.

Enjoing wildlife and the beauty of the seasons. So wel wurth the labour. I've several of this type of buildings in the woods on different places. The wikiup is my favorit for wintertime. LOL...As you started to eat I was thinking hot sauce would sure spice that baby up. I was eating home made nachos with Doritos, sliced jalapenos, cheese and I was out of Tabasco but found a bottle of Texas Pete's hot sauce that my wife prefers. Your wikiup is awesome and that rocket fire place is badass. As you stated, Rome was not built in a day. I've been working on my backyard Hobo Camp for three years, always adding or changing something. The best idea I got was from you, the idea of underlining my tarp with a frame. It cost me maybe thirty bucks or so for the frame materials from Lowes but it was well worth it. The hammock shelter has withstood heavy rains, winds and tons of leaves (when wet they get heavier). During this pandemic it has been my mental health shelter. I can sleep, cook meals or just kick back and relax. I test all of my under quilts, new hammocks, top quilts, sleeping bags out there. Right now I can only stealth camp in a local state park as there are no dispersed camping areas within a hundred miles or so. I noticed that some of my neighbors have hung hammocks in their backyards...kinda cool.
