This video is about Solo Winter Cold Camping in Muskoka Ontario.
myselfreliance.com/my-solo-win...
Like most crazy winter campers, I'm always seeking ways to improve my winter camping gear. This year, I purchased a few items to make my winter camping trips not only more enjoyable, but safer. Camping in temperatures that fall far below freezing is much more challenging than fair weather camping, and it can be life-threatening to go out with sub-standard gear, particularly when adventuring solo. To test my winter camping gear before setting out on a more extreme trip, I went snowshoeing and camping in Muskoka over the past two days. I'll be posting at least one video on the trip itself, and possibly more than one gear video.

I strongly agree. It was a great video I loved it. I would be screaming if I opened my eyes to find a fox staring at me. I guessed he smelled that good food u cooked earlier on.

Nice relaxing vid of winter bush. Thanks for taking us with you on your adventures. Good tip re the valley temps being considerably colder than the higher ground. Ever feel like company give me a call...not a novice and geared for winter and NOT a whiner! Small game open as well.

Beautiful area to explore both summer and winter. We tracked a fisher our there for a good hour or so 2 winters ago snowshoeing in heavy snow. Never did catch up to it. Maybe this year:)

was your compass out of wack because you were on a mineral deposit? I would never have thought about the rocks and bear dens. Good idea. All the bear dens I have found were in root systems. A ny danger of the huge rocks breaking due to the heat of the fire? Thanks for the enjoyable video.

Thanks for the video.I learn a lot from them. I had a compass that looked like that and the compass dial turned on the plastic so you could orient it on a map. Could that be the situation with yours?

Shawn, who makes that compass that was giving you so much trouble... were you able to reconcile the problem re: with your GPS software on your mobile? That's a creepy problem.

Shawn. I'm heading to the outdoor show to order a swift canoe. I know gear and see you have pretty much the best of everything. I can appreciate that because I'm the same way. Just curious why you choose Kevlar fusion over the carbon fusion?
@MySelfReliance
@MySelfReliance 8 жыл бұрын
Hey Scott. I ordered the Kevlar Fusion just before the carbon Innegra was released, and when I saw it I decided to visit the Swift booth at the boat show last January to switch my boat to carbon. However, after talking to Bill in more detail, Charlie on myccr and seeing it in person, I decided against it. Apparently it's slightly more brittle than the Kevlar, it wasn't much lighter (my Kee14 is 26.5 lbs), I didn't like the appearance as much as I thought I would, and the price was much higher. However, I don't think I would have been unhappy with it either.

With the clothing overview I'm wondering how our ancient ancestors survived.. The only way I suppose was to pick off a few sheep but how did they skin them and dry the furs.. We are masters.

This may be obvious to most of you, but why not just use snow or the icicles melted over the fire as water?

Frozen snow is filled with aluminum, barium, strontium and all kinds of fun stuff! Don't want to drink that! Go ahead, take a sample and get it tested, I will bet you ANY AMOUNT of money that it comes back with high levels of aluminum.
