For each enemy the shredder hits, the blade drops 1 base damage. Once the blade drops to 0 base damage, it disappears. The blade will follow the patch back to the mob spawn, taking a random path every time it splits. FUN FACT: The blades remain and keep going after the wave is completed. They don't all disappear like the mines from the Encampments do. So, if you pause the game right when the wave ends, select your upgrade, then select the new tile, resume the game and the mobs will spawn with the already existing blades still on the path heading towards them, essentially giving you free damage before any of your other towers can take a shot.

If I recall correctly, the shredder’s blades don’t have infinite range. They run until they either hit the edge of the path, or run out of pierce. But they start off with a ridiculous amount of pierce and it increases every level up.

Particle cannon could be fun with this mod setup, because it’s generally quite slow but great damage. It’s also very thirsty, so a man’s mod might also be necessary

I believe the shredder is coded to hit X number of enemies, plus one for every level of the tower. It also only does full damage to the first hit, with diminishing returns on each additional hit.

One thing I noticed is you regularly take +1 to shield damage ignoring +3 to armour damage in the same shop. Then you evenly spend your money across damage types anyway 🤷‍♂️ That’s a 2000 coin decision at higher levels
