I really like that you said that you find it endearing that Sakura is self aware because she really is. She knows she has been hiding behind the boys and she is frustrated that she is weaker, but in the end she really cares for them and wants to protect them. A lot of people give her crap and hate her when really, she is a normal young girl, trying to find her way in a crazy world while her teammates each got super powers in their arsenal. Also the fact that Sakura was able to calm Sasuke down from the curse mark shows that he does care about her a lot more then he showed until this point. Pay attention to the name Itachi (Sasuke's brother) mentioned here, he is a very interesting and popular character 3. Orochimaru wants to kill Hiruzen (Third Hokage) for some reason 4. Kabuto Yakushi purposefully took the exams seven times to gather informations, and here he also made a planned entrance to lead Sasuke to the Tower

Gaara has such a good arc (ends in Shippuden) so I'm excited to watch you react to it. Love that you're also a Naruto fan and knew him already lol. this part of the exam is definitely focused a lot on Sasuke he gets to shine and has significant plot points :) Sasuke has been shown to be pretty good at feeling the level of the opposition, against Zabuza he knew he was outmatched and here as well he couldnt see himself winning :) love the reveal of Orochimaru here its perfect for him, with the atmosphere and the music, still shrouded in mystery, proper intimidating villain :D Naruto going berserk never gets old, now more people got a glimpse of it, epic moment how he protected Sasuke :) tbf to Sakura despite being weaker than the others she was never really a coward :) Sasuke vs Orochimaru is a great fight too people tend to forget about it but its really well done :) this also made Anko more intriguing making that connection with Orochimaru :) Sound guys are really savage, makes sense that village is Orochimaru's, they were willing to bomb a squirrel xD ye its great to see how everything is done with purpose, the whole show is self-aware in every moment, Sakura tries her best but still had something holding her back, here it symbolizes how she is willing to move forward and leave the past behind, set her priorities straight :) Lee got to impress here which was cool as well as Team 10 Ino-Shika-Cho they showed they arent that bad their teamwork is actually solid :D Sasuke's awakening is hype af, so many people got the Curse Mark tattoos cause of that :) Gaara is honestly my fave character in the OG series he is so well done, his proper introduction here is iconic :D those guys attacking us at the end were from the Hidden Rain village :) Naruto got to shine here at the end, more people got to witness his growth and recognize him :) good guy Kabuto was a bit too good to be true what a shame :P now it makes sense why he keeps retaking the test :D Iruka still loves Naruto though thats important :) obviously the show is gonna be childish to an extent since we got a lot of children here but it makes perfect sense for the story too, the characters gotta feel natural and authentic and its intriguing watching these kids grow and having to deal with the harsh reality, having these tonal shifts in the show keeps you on your toes :)

YES! I'm so happy you clocked the Lee/Gaara dichotomy this early, it makes for some of my favourite moments of og naruto! And thank you for not being unfair to Sakura, so many people love to hate on her, but imo she's one of the characters who grow the most in the series. Yuri and Maile, the voice actors for Sasuke and Naruto, are SO TALENTED, i usually only watch sub but they're just as good as the japanese seiyuu!

It's crazy there's people that say the voice actor for Sakuke is a bad voice actor.

My absolute freaking favorite part of Naruto ever..Forest of Death is the best part of the best arc in Naruto, imo. I remember watching this back in like 2006 and nothing was cooler and more captivating than this. Naruto felt like a next level for me and probably the first teen oriented anime. I've never seen a "cartoon" show before with this level of violence, blood and all (although they've censored the hell out of it where i was watching it). But most importantly the story, characters, the atmosphere were amazing. Suspense, struggle, survival were so well depicted in this arc. It's so well done. Many years later this is still very interesting to watch. And nostalgia is definitely not a deciding factor at how good it is. And yes, this is definitely not a kids show as you can see for yourself already)

These Forest of Death episodes.. I still remember where I was for the big moments, even down to how I was sitting! Orochimaru, Sasuke snapping that guys arms, Gaara's Sand Coffin.. No clue why the hell Naruto was on such an early Toonami timeslot, but I definitely shouldn't have been watching it at like 9 years old. Still, though, the newest Naruto episode was always _the_ highlight of the week. Followed closely by Zatch Bell and Bobo-Bo of course ;)
